The Screaming Parrot is such a refreshing and exciting new addition to Redmond. From the moment I walked in, I could tell this café was built with thought and care. The vibe is modern yet welcoming, and it feels like the kind of place you can come to relax, catch up with friends, or even get some late-night studying or work done since they’re open until 11pm—something truly rare for the Eastside.
Their menu is unlike anything else I’ve seen around here, offering both unique caffeinated and non-caffeinated options to fit every mood. What stood out most to me was the variety of tea lattes and even tea coffee lattes, which is something completely new to the area. It’s clear that they’re pushing boundaries and creating drinks that are both innovative and high-quality.
The highlight for me was definitely their Basque cheesecake. I’ve tried versions at other cafés and restaurants before, but this one was by far the best I’ve had. Perfectly creamy, rich, and flavorful—it was the kind of dessert you think about long after you’ve finished the last bite. I also tried their soufflés, and those were equally impressive: light, fluffy, and satisfying without being overly sweet.
For drinks, I went with the matcha latte and da long Pao coffee lattes, and I was blown away by the quality. The matcha was ceremonial-grade, I could see and taste the difference immediately. The vibrant color of the matcha and the deep, roasted flavor of the da long Pao tea were exceptional. It’s rare to find this level of attention to quality tea in a café setting, and I was truly impressed.
Lastly, I had the pleasure of meeting the owner during my visit. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the products, passionate about his craft, and friendly in a way that made the whole experience even more enjoyable. You can tell that a lot of heart went into building this café. I’m so glad The Screaming Parrot opened in Redmond—it’s easily one of my new favorite spots, and I can’t...
Read more“The screaming parrots” cafe is a nice place to have a light brunch, hang out with friends and relax and it is suitable for everyone. However, today I felt a bit disappointed and confused. I went and ordered a Strawberry Soufflé and a Strawberry Matcha latte. To begin with, I understand that the main characteristic of a soufflé is that it should be fluffy. Mine was very fluffy and light, but it was undercooked. I really noticed a lot of raw parts. There was a table next to mine where they were eating the same strawberry soufflé, and I could see that theirs was firmer. I approached the waitress, gave her my feedback, and asked her why mine was like that. Although she explained the process of the plate, I was not satisfied with my food and I could not even finish it. I wish they could have done something to improve it or care more about the client’s concern. Also, I would like to suggest to the café that they serve the food on plates so that it has a better presentation to the audience. Finally, I agree with those who say some foods can be too sweet. It happened to me before with a strawberry pistachio and vanilla latte (even without asking for more sugar). Overall, I love the variety that you can find here: they have creative dishes, and a lot of interesting combinations. I liked the music. The place is really cozy and perfect to study, yap with your friends or read a book. I highly recommend it, they are doing a great job...
Read moreI’ve stopped in twice, first trip I tried the hot hojicha latte, the hojicha was so flavorful and there are a bunch of things on the menu I want to try. Next I tried the iced hojicha banana pudding latte. The great hojicha flavor comes through still and it is so rich and creamy! Very indulgent. The flavors of the drinks are rich, complex and not in-your-face sweet. I grabbed an eel onigiri for breakfast, it was large and filling, and freshly made when I came in so it was warm. Grabbed a slice of the chocolate lava basque for later. So rich and decadent! I was able to cut it in half to share because a full slice would probably be too much for me. So heavenly! The staff is friendly. They apologized for the wait but mine was pretty short and I like that they take the time to craft their creations with care. Excited to try the soufflé and crepe and so many more drinks, onigiri and desserts. This place is a very exciting addition to downtown Redmond, a must try!
Addendum: Don’t sleep on the cranberry walnut chocolate chip cookie. It was a religious experience paired with the matcha latte (less sweet)—like milk and cookies, but more sophisticated ;) Served warm, it’s fluffy, crispy and big enough to share…but you might...
