Dong Ting Chun — Restaurant in Redmond

We have been to the Edmond location, but it is too far. Then we heard about this one and decide to try.

A little disappointing with the food. First, the menu is different from the other one's. Fewer selections. And the Mao's braised pork and pickled long beans are dry. Not as good as other Hunan restaurants.

The service is horrible. It was fine until we are ready to pay the bill. We asked one of the staff for the bill and then a girl came asking if we are ready for the bill. We said yes and we need two boxes for the leftover. She came back with boxes and start putting the food into the box. Actually, I did not ask her to do that for us and I thought she is being nice. However，she started to throw down the plates very hard. In the beginning, I did not pay attention and thought she was not doing it deliberately. But then she threw it towards my girlfriend and almost hit her. We were looking at each other and completely shocked and she just left. We did not know why she was acting like that. Since we still did not find our bill yet, we asked another waitress for the bill. And that rude girl just came back and yelled, "I told you the bill was attached to the table", and left again. I got angry this time and asked, "what's wrong with her". The other waitress said she did not know and she just came and had no idea what was happening. And she did not get the rude waitress back to explain her behavior. My girlfriend did not want to make a scene and we left.

I’ve been to Dong Ting Chun located at Edmonds but that place is way too far from my home thus I was very excited after learning they are opening up another store in Redmond.

The food in their Edmonds location was very good so I came with high expectations. They did not disappoint us with the quality of their food. I saw most people there ordered the fish dish that came in a large flat pan but we decided to order two smaller and probably less popular dishes instead. Both dishes we ordered were very spicy as we expected and wanted.

Their food is on the more expensive side. Most of their main dishes were in the high teens range, usually between $16 and $19. Whether they worth that much is up to you to decide.

Even though they’ve opened for a few months already, their staff were still not very familiar with their routines. When we sat down, we had no menu to order our food. We asked for menu and was told that another two large tables asked for many menus and they ran out. I’ve never seen a restaurant run out of menu before. Large tables usually have multiple copies which I can understand. But they shouldn’t be given one menu per person.

I still give them 4 star because their food quality. Due to the lack of good Chinese restaurants on east side, I see myself visiting them more in the future though I would probably wait for a few more months before coming again so that their staff will become better trained when I...

1st : No hello, just a yell across the room for how many? 2nd : Seated for over 10 minutes with no service had to make awkward eye contact for the server to come over. 3rd: Rushed my order and lied to me about portion sizes. I have a 10 and 8 year old that wanted the same menu items I asked how big and she said “pretty small” so I order 2. When they arrived they are mounds the size of my face. We kindly let her know we won’t be needing the other entree do to the size, she immediately cuts my husband off and says “no it was already ordered” I asked why she told me the portion was small when I asked and she all of sudden forgot how to speak the perfect English she spoke the sentence before… $0 tip and WE ALWAYS TIP. (I use to be a server) Food was mediocre and we’ll over priced for what you get. ALSO me and my husband where the only non Asian people in the restaurant and we watched them frequent the other tables and bring fresh water and napkins but never brought us anything OUR ENTIRE MEAL. Had to flag them down again to get our check and waited 10 minutes for that while the server had a very obviously personal conversation with another table.
