Came here with a reservation for 6 on a Sunday at 6pm. There was ample seating indoor and outdoor but quickly filled up as the evening went on. We chose outside seating which has heat lamps but the tables and chairs may wobble due to the uneven floor outside.
Ensaladas de lechuga y elote: we had two of these for our table to share and it was a good bite-size of the portion. I loved the sweet corn and dressing on top. Ceviche mixto: had two for our table of this too. It was delicious and not your usual ceviche lemony flavor. It has a sweetness to it that was different but amazing. Will order again and love their plantain chips. Atun con Sandia: they came out with 6 pieces perfectly for us, and the watermelon is so refreshing and sweet with the combination of the seared tuna. Recommend ! Empanadas de camaron: had three orders of this since it comes in twos. This was creamy delicious inside with mushrooms (which I’m not the biggest fan of) but it was tasty in flavor! Recommend! Tacos Pulpo y Chorizo (3): this was just ok altogether as a taco Tacos Pancita de Puerco (3): I liked this one more than the other. Had a kick of spice so make sure you take off the peppers if you cannot handle spicy. Parrillada: entree dish with lots of meat: skirt steak, chicken, and veggies. Loved the different dipping sauces with the veggies, tasty but so full when entrees came out already. Arroz Con Mariscos: second entree to share and this was my favorite dish of the evening. Lots of seafood and the black rice with plantain is so different and delicious, I kept wanting more. Recommend! La Sandia: the mocktail was also really refreshing and delicious.
A bit pricey but it was an overall very delicious meal! Between 6 people with alcoholic beverages, we spent $382 (not including tips). Would love to return again if I’m ever around the area again. One star down because the workers don’t seem very happy to be there. One even spilled water onto my friend and didn’t apologize. She just went and grabbed tissue after it happened and not urgently. Otherwise food and...

Earlier in the afternoon on 2/21 I decided to look up venues to have drinks with my co-workers to celebrate a birthday. I choose LV Mar in Redwood city, CA. I am a BLACK MAN, from the east coast. The evening was going well. To my surprise, 5 other BLACK people walked into LV MAR. We greeted each other as if we were a distant family members meeting in a designated location (the dwindling numbers of people of color living in the Bay Area is well documented). We shared stories of moving to the Bay area and what it was like to be the minority in the area. The evening was ending and all was going well until the bartender decided to come over and ask us (the black people seated at the bar in the restaurant) to keep it down, at the bar. He told us we were yelling to much - at the bar- and that we were being disruptive to the individuals eating dinner at the tables in the seating area. The action was racist, deplorable, and offensive. I will never spend another penny at LV MAR and I suggest that no one else spend another penny there as well. If we were in the common eating area and we were too loud, maybe the action may have been excusable, but at the bar, are you kidding me. Thank you for ruining a good evening and showing me how much you don't value diversity and every customers dollar equally. Unfortunately, this occurred because WE didn’t fit the mold of what Redwood City...
Read moreOn a Sunday morning.. we were looking for something to satiate our hangri-ness and ran across this place in dt Redwood City.
It's Michelin recommended so you can get an idea that this place is going to be good. You're in for a treat.
We grabbed two tables inside and noticed that a lot of the art work was rotating. They sell pieces on their walls which makes it refreshing to know that the environment changes constantly.
We were hangry as I mentioned so we ordered these items: Oysters prepared in the way with guacamole and cucumbers: It was so good and fresh. Haven't had anything this fresh since the east coast. Palm Heart Salad: Also fresh and light.. very good. They brought this to us as an apology since our main course took so long. Mixed Ceviche: It was very fresh and good as well and served with plantain chips... I would suggest that if you're not into a spicy sauce that you avoid this. It's light but I believe the spiciness over powers the seafood in it. Ribeye entrée: It was cooked perfectly at medium rare.. I didn't care too much for the potatos on the skewer but the tomatoes were good. Its not a huge dish. Torta Huevo: It's a huge dish and very heavy. Lots of things going on in here. I tried a little bit but my favorite were the seafood mushrooms, chorizo, and the thin creped egg...
Fantastic place.. you are in for a treat. Who knew there was a little gem like this...
