Downtown Bethany Blues — Restaurant in Rehoboth Beach

This place was a definite let down. I saw the good reviews and wanted to stop by somewhere near the beach. 1. Had to walk to the bar to ask to be seated because there was no one at the hostess stand The lady who was decent was getting off her shift and we got another guy who looked stoned and not dedicated to his job at all. He came to our table several times and didn’t clear the dirty plates from the appetizer nor ask for our water refills. 3. The main I ordered was a mess of flavors. Delmarva chicken was just try hard and the chef doesn’t seem like he knows what he’s doing at all. Seasonal veggies were just cauliflower and sweet potato, the frozen garlic mashed potatoes that was obviously reheated tasted sour and the chicken just looked like it’s been through things. I lost my appetite but my husband discouraged me from complaining because they get stingy in off season and nothing would happen. I asked to have a to-go box and the server took no interest in how I found the food since I hardly took 2 bites of it. 4. The server brought back a box that was too small for the plate so we had to ask for another. 5. When we left, I noticed the dead leaf that I saw upon entering the establishment more than an hour prior was still there, when right in the middle of the floor, next to the tables. Summary: what a pretentious place for less than mediocre food, the best thing they have going for them is the decor and atmosphere they try to create yet failed. My husband and I went to Rehoboth for the weekend for our 49 anniversary on Friday we stopped in and had dinner I had pulled pork sandwich and my husband had meatloaf Friday night I wokeup real sick. Coming from both ends Saturday morning still sick real bad dry heaves. I also was sweating real bad. We lost our rooms to the hotel and my 49th anniversary was ruined. We had to come home Saturday I ended up in the hospital I had food poisoning. I called the manager he was very polite he returned my phone call. Told him what happened he apologized and said one of the two bosses would call me never heard anything till this day 😞 I'm very upset when I talk to the manager I told him I was just concerned and I wasn't going to sue or anything just that they should know. But wowi guess the big bosses don't care. It's a wonderful places are going out of busines. I just think people should know this thanks for nothing big bosses 🤬. I truly, truly appreciate how the entire staff came together to accommodate my shellfish allergy. It was nothing like I’ve ever experienced with any other restaurant. Everyone from the waitress, to the manager, to the chef came to speak to me to discuss my allergy and the severity of it. The manager also went above and beyond for me, suggesting an alternative way of preparing my food in order to avoid potential cross contamination. Beyond that, which was certainly worth five stars within itself - the food was EXCELLENT. My love and I got the BBQ sampler with collard greens (OMGGGGGG) and the garlic mashed potatoes (EVEN MORE OMG). My love also for the brisket cheesesteak eggrolls which she enjoyed (I couldn’t have any because of my allergy) and I had Buffalo smoked wings. We also had the bourbon flight which was great!
