A Must-Visit Diner: Peg’s Glorified Ham and Eggs By Jorge Berlioz Nestled in the heart of Midtown Reno, Peg’s Glorified Ham and Eggs stands as a beacon of classic American diner culture. Stepping inside, you’re immediately immersed in a bustling yet harmonious environment where the staff works like a well-oiled machine—efficient, friendly, and fast. Martha, my server, epitomized this multitasking spirit, seamlessly juggling tasks while still offering top-notch service. The décor gives the diner an authentic feel, filled with a cozy, homey clutter that reminds you of the classic franchise diners of the past but without the sterile corporate touch. It feels lived-in, with walls adorned in a charming overload of nostalgic memorabilia, adding to the overall experience. I opted for their famous Glorified Ham and Eggs, and it didn’t disappoint. While I usually prefer my ham a little more cooked, Peg’s version was expertly done—tender and flavorful. The sunny-side-up eggs were perfectly cooked, the bacon crisp, and the hashbrowns were a real standout. It’s rare to find good hashbrowns in Reno these days, but Peg’s nailed it. I also ordered fries on the side, which were seasoned just right, adding a satisfying crunch to the meal. To wash it down, the iced tea was refreshingly crisp—simple, but perfect. Peg’s is more than just a diner; it’s a Reno institution. It offers a slice of eclectic Americana that’s becoming harder to find. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this spot is a must-visit for breakfast lovers. Its historical significance and prime location make it a quintessential part of the Reno dining scene. Peg’s serves not just food but a sense of place—one that captures the essence of the city itself. Delicious, welcoming, and distinctly local, this diner has stood the test of time for all the right reasons.

I've had this place saved in my phone as a place to go to for a few years now. We finally got to go. Parking is a little tough. There's limited street parking. I had gone in to place my to go order while my husband looked for parking. Upon entering, this place is decorated typical diner style. Random pictures and posters. It's definitely been around a while. It's shown some wear and random clutter. I came shortly after them opening, and they were pretty busy already. There was one guy taking the order on a huge yellow notepad and one cook. The guy taking my order was super nice. I placed my order and just observed the area. The cook seemed like he had burned some things, and I was afraid it was our order. We ordered; 1. Loco moco - I was skeptical of this, but I figured I'd give it a try. The patty was cooked perfectly, and the gravy was delicious. The mac salad was basic, nothing special. I mostly ate the rice and patty 2. Corn beef hash - This is my typical safe go-to as a backup. He even asked me if I was ok with peppers on it. Which let me believe it was made fresh in-house. It was amazing with the fluffy cooked scrambled eggs, I didn't need anything else. 3. Breakfast sandwich with bacon and sausage - This was ginormous. It was cheesy, and the way the egg just dripped down the middle, it was heaven. 4. French toast - This was crispy and sweet. You didn't even need syrup. Overall, the experience wasn't bad, and the food was tasty. I will definitely be back the next time we are in the area.

Looked closed from outside at around 8ish am. Had one outdoor seating set up and other chairs still put on top of another outdoor set. Place seemed dark dank and uninviting when inside. Went on a recommendation(probably should have gone to a different Peg’s location). Husband’s huevos rancheros looked and tasted great however the “waffle” was more like pancake batter put in a waffle iron dense and chewy, and bacon overcooked, no bueno. Waitress got manager to handle my disappointed breakfast. They made a better, slightly crispy, still dense and chewy, waffle and brought out different bacon. I give them credit for at least offering it but overall vibe in the diner wasn’t for me but I’m sure there are those that are over the moon about the place because it’s their comfort spot or they haven’t had lots of experiences in their travels to compare it to. I do like diner food but have expectations when paying over $50 for two breakfasts including coffee. (Ok Coffee $3.99/cup w/refills) (Medium sized “Belgian waffle” $11.99) (2 eggs and 2 bacon added $7.99-I asked if they could just duo one egg and one bacon and I was told no.) (Huevos Rancheros $15.99 I think which would be the better choice on menu considering the portions) If it was just me alone I’d give them one star.

Large portions and good food! We stopped in around 11am on the Wednesday prior to Thanksgiving. It was very busy! Not sure if it’s usually like this during the weekdays since this was our only visit. My boyfriend and I had coffee. Sugar and little half and half cups along with little jam packets and butter packets were in a little bowl on the table. Our server was very prompt in refilling our cups so our coffee stayed warm. I got the Plaza omelette with pinto beans instead of hash brown. The toast is unlimited (if you don’t share your plate with anyone else!). I wasn’t asked if I had a toast preference so I assume they only had one type - white. Huge portion overall! My boyfriend got the steak and eggs and he had no complaints. Large portion on his plate as well. Our server was very friendly and I’m impressed with how smooth our brunch went given how busy it was! I didn’t get her name but she had long dark straight hair and lots of tattoos. Thank you! The only thing I’d knock would be the ladies bathroom. So many pieces were broken.. Overall we’d recommend stopping here!

I'm an unabashed breakfast person and I know people who eat at Peg's are too. Everything about breakfast means happiness to me - the morning hours, the eggs, the veggies folded into an omelette, the bacon, the pastries, the coffee. Come in for a giant breakfast for a reasonable price. This place is hoppin' on Saturday morning, so allow at least 15 minutes to be seated. Our server, Joaquin was warm and friendly. He worked hard to keep our coffee topped off! The Plaza Skillet is jam packed with vegetables like broccoli, tomatoes, squash and onions. Unlimited bread. Hot hash browns. All for $10.99! My husband thought his gluten free French Toast was "pretty good and okay." If you have allergies or dietary restrictions, here are the gluten free options (FYI: GF bread is .50 and not unlimited like the other dishes) - GF Monte Cristo - GF Huevos Rancheros - GF French Toast - GF Chile Rilleños

Very mediocre. I had high expectations for this place due to the reviews here and a friend recommendation. The food portions are large, but that is just about it. My main complaint was the pancakes. They were very chewy and a little bit rubbery. The chili relleno plate was impressively big but quite flavorless. The eggs and bacon were done right, but nothing more than Denny's quality. Tbe loco moco beef patty was tasty, but it was swimming in excess brown sauce. So overall, the food is like Denny's, but without Denny's prices. Service was fine, friendly if you're a local. The dining room was basic, much like an old 50s diner that hasn't been remodeled. Prices have been raised from what my friends have known from eating here about a year ago. Parking garge and street parking is nearby. The front entrance was messy with carts full of plates and salt and pepper shakers.
