This was my first time here and I wasn't expecting a lot since it's a chicken sandwich but I was honestly pleasantly surprised. I got the spicy chicken sandwich but it's not spicy itself, it's the condiments that are spicy. I got the BBQ sauce and the slaw on the side because I wasn't sure how spicy it would be. Also got the crinkle fries and the Mac and cheese. The fries were crispy and the mac and cheese was tasty. They sprinkle Cheeto dust on the top and I forgot to order it without that but it ended up not being terrible. The sandwich was great, not too much breading which I hate in fried chicken sandwiches and not a giant bun either. The spicy slaw was delicious and made the sandwich in my opinion. I put just a little of the spicy BBQ sauce on it too and together it was perfect. I got the combo meal so it came with a drink and everything that I ordered along with a $5 tip came to a little over $25 total which I didn't think was unreasonable. It was pretty crowded so they must be doing well. The employees were very friendly and professional. My vision is impaired as well so they offered me a hand held menu so I could see everything Al ng with...
Read moreI didn’t take pictures as I wasn’t thinking I’d be won over by “another fried chicken sandwich place” as I’ve tried several in the area and have been underwhelmed - I’ve always found them too salty/too greasy/flavorless heartburn. For whatever reason, I wanted to try Big Chicken today, and it turned out to be worth it and surprised me in several ways.
I ordered The Hot Shot, some crinkle fries, and mac and cheese.
I wasn’t feeling a full-sized sandwich so I got the Hot Shot because it was smaller and had a little bit of heat. It was quite good! The natural sweetness of the toast paired well with the sauce and jalapeños. The sandwich had just enough chicken. Only bummer was that the cheese curds on it were old and tough, so I just skipped those.
I’m particular about mac and cheese and don’t tend to care for crumb toppings, but the cheese dust I am on board with. Also the mac and cheese itself is pretty good - thick and flavorful (aka actual aged cheese flavor) with the noodles fully coated and not overcooked.
Of the places I’ve tried in the area, this is the only one I’ll come back to. Next time I’ll try...
Read moreI was told Shaq has a chicken place in Renton so I had to go see. I had recently eaten so I couldn't really dig in. I got a Mac and Cheese side and a Salted Caramel Shake. The mac and cheese has a very nice balance of the macaroni and the cheese. The cheese isn't gooey or too thick. You can choose crushed Cheese Its as a crunchy topping, I did. I preferred to kinda stir mine in. Try that! The shake is real ice cream. None of that McDonald's fake ice cream shake that's literally designed to make u more thirsty. Actual caramel and something crunchy in the shake. To summarize... I'm going back several times.
Next day: Ok, I've gone back now and bought a regular chicken sandwich and added lettuce, tomato and bacon. The breading on the chicken slice is good and a bit unique. This is nearly a meal on its own! I wish they'd have a senior citizen discount cause I'd come more often. I'm a Shaq fan so this was worth a try but personally I can't afford to eat out very much. A couple bucks makes a huge difference for me. It's sad that it's that way for so many senior citizens. I'll be back but not as often...
