They aren't as good as I remember them. I've visited several times in the last few weeks and there's been multiple problems.
Service is extremely slow. Every time I've gone even when only a couple of tables were occupied, I've waited a long time for service. Once orders are taken, it's another long wait, and appetizers are served shortly before or at the same time as the entrees. A couple of times my daughter has been disappointed that they don't have any flavored coffee available. Today I wanted to make sure she got to have some coffee she wanted and I mentioned to the server that the pot of strudel flavored coffee was nearly empty and cold. It was not replaced, nor was the room-temperature Brazilian blend. A cafe that charges $3 should have hot coffee, having 5 kinds available doesn't matter when there's only one pot of hot unflavored and one pot of flavored.
The food often does not match the description. Tonight we bought a roasted broccoli and brussel sprout appetizer. It was supposed to have a balsamic reduction on the side. The vegetables showed no signs of roasting, and there was nothing on the side. There was a vinegary taste to all the vegetables, which made my daughter not like them - she'll eat broccoli roasted with olive oil and garlic, which is what the menu described, not microwaved vegetables covered in vinegar. They were also room temperature at one end of the plate while hot on the other.
I ordered a barbecue bacon cheddar burger. There was supposed to be barbecue sauce on the burger, but if any was on it, it was undetectable. There were supposed to be chopped pickles as well but there were none. The patties were dry and unseasoned, with an aftertaste reminiscent of burnt hair.
Cafe Brazil has some saving graces. Though the coffee variety is limited and I've never seen all 5 pots full at the same time, it's good while it's still hot and the creamer choices they have are good. Some of the food is pretty good, my daughter loves their chicken strips. An interesting crowd hangs out there, and they're open 24 hours. However, you're going to have to wait and probably have to wave over a server when your drink is empty, and you never know if the food will be...
Read moreThis was my 3rd visit to Cafe Brazil in Richardson. The experience was so much worse than previous excellent visits that I felt I had to write, to make sure that management reads this. The restaurant wasn't crowded due to the very cold weather, so there was no excuse. I ordered the same item as my previous two visits - the western omelette.
Perhaps someone new was working in the kitchen? Or the regular chef didn't show up and someone pinch-hit?
The greeter as well as the server were both very friendly. That being said, the greeter said he would put me "somewhere warm", but sat me next to a window. :{ There were plenty of empty tables that weren't by a cold window - what was he thinking? The server did move me upon request. Also, I asked for water, but had to ask for it again when the food arrived. I could understand if the restaurant was crowded &the server forgot, but it was not - again because of the extreme cold outside. Both of these were minor issues that were resolved, but it prevents me from giving the service a 5-star review.
I have recommended this restaurant to several friends based on my first 2 experiences, but now am rethinking this. Whereas the service was okay except for the minor things mentioned above, the food was definitely...
Read moreWe’re beyond upset with the experience we had here. The start of our wait was fine. We had a large party, they told us it would be a good wait, and “if tables open up near each other we’ll sit you there.” Totally okay. We’re a large party and we know that it can be a lot. We understood. What became the problem was when the lying started. They put the blame on another large party saying they’d finish and were waiting for them to get up. We found out that they hadn’t of even ordered yet. Okay, we let it slide. Gave us a new wait time and told us that we haven’t been there long, you shouldn’t worry. Lied again. We asked, “We see it’s busy, is it going to be closer to an hour, longer, wait?” Which if told truthfully, we would’ve accepted that, said thank you, and probably head out. But were lied to AGAIN, “No it should still be only 10 minutes.” The worker then proceeded to talk badly about us to the entire staff, simply because we kept asking about our table after the amount of time we were told 3 times after over an hour and a half, we arrived at 10:35 it was now 11:55. We eventually became frustrated and started voicing our concerns. As we expressed our frustration of being lied to, the staff turned around to other customers and said, “Sorry, that party is jerks,” under their breath. Which the customers looked at them obviously uncomfortable which the workers should never talk to seated customers like that. After finally leaving I, who never once complained, tried to make them explain why they couldn’t have been honest. Then treated terribly when I had been the nicest one there. I’ve worked in the industry. It’s hard telling a really long wait, but it’s better than being lied to. I’m so absolutely...
