Atomic Ale Brewpub is one of our favorite go tos in town. The beer and food are all around delicious! If you havenât been in a few years, because maybe you werenât as impressed by the beer (read: a few years ago), let me tell you: with the introduction of their current brewer in 2020(ish?), the beers are back in full force and so tasty! The usual suspects are solid: Half-life Hefe, Atomic Amber, and Orbital Haze. But we also love the seasonal beers that surface: Oppenheimer Oatmeal Stout, and the Marga-radioactive Gose. The brewer even brewed a Gruit, a year or two ago, which is an ancient beer style brewed with herbs instead of hops (as I understand itâŠdonât hate me if thatâs wrong!) Anyway, theyâre all so delicious - you donât be disappointed.
The food is always good. Our faves are the nuclear fettuccine, BLTA, the grinder (we affectionately call it the âpizza sandwichâ b/c it tastes like a pizza in a sandwich!), and obviously the potato soup! (Seriously, theyâre known for the potato soup!) The pizzas never disappoint and are loaded with toppings - so even the small pizza is perfect for one person! (The Godfather or the Hot Girl Summer are our go tos for pizza!) The weekly specials are on each table and featured on their social media, so be sure to check those out when you go.
The staff are all so much fun! We usually sit at the bar and have a great time. Itâs a cozy, hometown bar feel, and has been there for over 25+ years. They are kid friendly and have great events here and there - music bingo, trivia, and more. The patio is dog friendly, so in the warmer months we bring our pup with us (and he even gets carrot snacks from his favorite server, Brittany!)
Come on down, whether itâs your first time, or been awhile, or youâre a regular like us!
(Fun fact: the Italian restaurant, Monterossoâs, across the street is their partner restaurant, in a train car - another fave of ours, and I think thereâs a discount if you bring a receipt from one location to...
Read moreI was in the pizza business for 16 years, so my reviews about pizza are highly critical. Today I ordered a 12" Positron Pineapple for delivery through Grubhub. (Yes, pineapple does go on pizza.) The order was made and delivered to me very quickly, it only took about 25 minutes when the quote was 30-35. I rate my pizzas using four key indicators. Crust: 2/5 - The foundation of any good pizza is it's crust, and unfortunately was the weakest part of this pizza. Not freshly made, but rather a commissary disk most likely frozen and thawed as needed, then partially stretched. It was dense, chewy, and lacked any sort of flavor. Sauce: 4/5 - Decent tasting sauce. It had a good tangy flavor and there was just the right amount, not too much or too little. Toppings: 3/5 - Canadian bacon and pineapple were just basic, nothing special or any flair to them. Ham from a package, pineapple from a can. Parsley was a nice addition and added a unique flavor which I appreciated. Appropriate amount of cheese, although it wasn't anything special. Preparation: 3/5 - Amount and distribution of toppings was good, just right to get enough in each bite. The pizza was unevenly cooked, one side very dark and the other half still white, and much of the crust in the center was slightly undercooked - I attribute this mostly to using an inferior dough. The side that was dark and crunchy was better than the other half, so extra time in the oven probably would have improved the whole pizza overall. It certainly could have cooked longer as the mozzarella easily could have sustained more browning. Packaging was great - nice sturdy box, sealed with a sticker for safety.
Not too impressed with the quality from a locally owned restaurant. It reminded me of something you'd get from a cafeteria or concession stand, which is rarely worth it to me. I may return to try some of their other menu offerings, but my standards for pizza are much higher than they...
Read moreAtomic Ale Brewpub and Eatery was the second brewery that I went to when I arrived for a beer tour of the Tri-Cities. This was in the evening and I was hungry after a long drive and this place was the only one that was open during the later hours of the evening when I lit into town. I have no qualms about the beer really. It was pretty good but not the most memorable brewery out of my journey. I had the Atomic Amber. While scanning the food menu they had a bratwurst sandwich that was cooked with the Amber that I was drinking and it was suggested that it would pair well with the beer itself. I didn't have a better idea so that was what I went with. I actually liked the food just a bit more than the beer. The sandwich was very good and for an extra 99 cents I had sauerkraut put on it which was a nice addition. I had a side salad which was also very refreshing and tasty. While I have no complaints about the place at all I think I preferred the food more over the beer. Not that they are doing anything wrong with it. I'm on the lookout for experimental brews with unusual ingredients or just a really solid tasting beer that doesn't have to be unusual. Atomic's beer didn't quite make that but again, it wasn't bad. I have had ambers that were much more subpar...
