I have been a fan of Frost Me Sweet since Smoovies moved out of the building.(So a long time.) I've never written a review because I just assumed all the reviews would be good. But I am APPALLED at the negativity and false claims in some of these reviews! Many years later, I'm finally adding a review to the score to convince all you doubters that you're wrong and need to go back and give Frost Me Sweet another try...and then another...AND ANOTHER!!
Sure, sometimes the high schoolers working part time can be not the best at customer service. But they probably have low experience and are trying to save up for college; also, if YOU had to serve demanding and not always polite customers while standing all day, would YOU still be able to pull it off with a smile? NO restaurant has perfect customer service, everyone can have an off day, and I've only experienced that maybe once or twice in the many times I've been here. I've worked with the owner for catering, and she is SO nice.
Now for the part that confuses and baffles me the most... Whoever says these cupcakes are worse-than/equal-to grocery store cupcakes CLEARLY enjoy mass-produced processed food filled with artificial flavors and preservatives, dry and crumbly flavorless cake, and painfully sweet crunchy frosting. COME ON, these cupcakes are THE BEST, they taste better than home made!
Grocery store cupcakes don't come with a moist, flavorful cake; delicious gooey filling; smooth and creamy tasty frosting; ganache and toppings; and an assortment of unique flavor combinations! Ever watch Cupcake Wars? Florian would say that grocery store cupcakes taste like dry dirt, and I'm sure Frost Me Sweet would win no sweat. :) (You guys should totally compete on Cupcake Wars, btw. Unless you have and that episode isn't on Netflix and I haven't heard about it, haha!)
Over pricd?? Generic mass-produced Pink Bella cupcakes are $4.25 each on the west side!! Small?? These cupcakes are the same as you would make at home but with a tall scoop of icing and toppings!
When I went away to college 4 years ago, I seriously missed Frost Me Sweet cupcakes. I would get one or two in the rare chance I was in the Tri-Cities again. Everyone I tell are like "yeah cupcakes aren't special" but once they taste these cupcakes, they're enlightened! :) This past June, 7 months ago, I got married and had Frost Me Sweet cater our bride and groom cake as well as cupcakes for the guests, and I have the pictures of our guests' reactions to prove how wonderful these cupcakes are. (Also, everyone told me they finally know why I raved about them so long, they understand!)
I have now tried cupcakes from nearly every grocery store, every cupcake chain store, and every independent store in 5 different cities throughout Washington, and none of them come even close to the richness, the deliciousness, the decadence of Frost Me Sweet cupcakes. Now that I live on the other side of the state permanently, I can't visit as often, but I still get these yummy cupcakes whenever I'm in town once or twice a year!
The food is pretty great too. I understand that not many people on the east side of Washington care about being green, recycling, or locally sourcing, but I do. And Frost Me Sweet does. The food is so fresh and tasty, and I appreciate that they locally source their seasonal produce and ingredients for their lunches and dinners. Also, this is not your typical disgusting American-"Italian" food; this is a fresh and inspired selection among the repetitive, outdated selections in the Tri-Cities. Also, try being vegan or vegetarian here and eating out, summary: you can't. (Boring iceberg lettuce salad doesn't count.) Frost Me Sweet has a GREAT selection no matter your dietary needs! :)
The smoothies and Italian sodas are good; the atmosphere is good; the deserts are good; the food is good; basically everything is good. This place is amazing. Get over your processed, outdated food obsession and let in the fresh...
Read moreFRAUD ALERT! On July 20th, my coworkers and I (total of 7 people) decided to go have lunch there. First of all, the service was VERY slow despite the fact that we purposely told the server that we need to be somewhere after the lunch so she could speed up; but, did not happen. Well, that is not why I am writing a review. I forgot my debit card there because we were in rush to make it to the next planned event after our lunch. A day after (July 21st), I realize that I do not have my debit card and call Frost Me Sweet to ask if they have it. Surprisingly, they had it. I go and pick up my card and some hours later on the VERY same day, I get a text and an email from my bank saying that there has been a withdrawal for amount of 283$ somewhere in Michigan. That was when I lost my temper. I called Frost Me and asked to talk to the manager and was told that I will get a call back. Did not happen. Had to call them again a day after and talked to Megan (apparently the "General Manager" and the "Owner") picked up the phone and she rudely told me that this could not have happened in her store. I mean how can this be a coincidence. In 10 years of owning an account it happens right when I left my card in your store!!! I don't think so... Please look at the proofs attached yourself and you will rethink stepping in a place where the workers/owners/managers use your sensitive information to practice fraud. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. I will never be going back nor my coworkers or their family members.
This is in response to the "Response from the owner" since I could not reply: First of all, I never yelled at anyone so stop lying. As I mentioned above, I had to call multiple times to finally talk to you. Second, as I told you over the phone, I DO NOT need your nasty free food so that's a second lie about me wanting your free mediocre food. It seems like not only you are a professional thief but also a professional liar. Also, as the attached picture clearly shows, (Also on Yelp if not shown here), the last place my card was used was at your store before the unauthorized withdrawal. Lastly, I talked to my bank yesterday and I was told that my card information was sent to someone in Michigan to fabricate a fake card with my credentials to withdraw money so that explains everything here....
Read moreSmall update: Frost Me Sweet now has gluten free cupcakes, and they are actually very good. My 11 year old took some to class for his birthday and they were a big hit. I have adjusted my rating accordingly. Thank you Frost Me Sweet!
My husband and I were doing a little Uptown Christmas shopping and we decided to swing over to The Parkway. We had never been there before because we're still pretty new to the area. Frost Me Sweet is in a quaint little historical spot, from what I was told it is the oldest commercial building in Richland. The place is cute, and adds to the history of Richland, which is something that drew us here, so we loved the area and the shop. We ordered lunch, a "grown-up tuna melt" it was pretty good. The fries however lacked something, and the soup I had wasn't the best, very runny, even though it was my personal favorite soup, I was disappointed. The lavender lemonade was to die for, but be warned that there is an "up-charge" for a refill. The waitress was nice and also helpful, though slow. If you do not have an hour and a half to spend at the Bistro, I would suggest waiting until you do. As for the cupcakes, I was severely disappointed. Cupcakes are kind of my thing, I made and sold gourmet cupcakes at our previous home, I love cupcakes. However, I did NOT love these cupcakes! They were severely dry, I had to drink an entire two glasses of water to choke it down! The frosting was very good as was the filling, but the cake itself was so dry! In addition to the general dryness, they are much too expensive, $2.75 for a kitchen size cupcake is extremely excessive. We sold the jumbo cupcakes for $2.50 in our shop. Overall, it’s not an awful place, the food itself is worth the stop, but the cupcakes are lacking as well as the...
