WOW !!! Am a loyal customer and always, ALWAYS recommend this place to others in helping to support our 'mom&pop' establishments. Today I call to place an order as I've done for the last five years since moving here, tried to order 4 pints of the hamburger soup and the man who was taking my order gave the worst attitude ever. Immediately his voice is irritated because he begins to ho hum and makes sure to breathe in a way so I can clearly hear his aggravation then proceeds to tell me next time I have to give him a warning when I want to order a large amount because he only makes a small amount. 4 pints is not that large. Seriously. But, okay. Small shop, maybe business is slow due to the pandemic, but, if you offer pint sizes maybe put an asterisk that each customer is only allowed one, and if a customer wants more than one they need to call days in advanced to get it. But let's say the people you're ordering for don't know yet that on that particular day they want that soup, let's say we're brain storming what sounds good for lunch 'the day of' and so...if happens to be Stone Soup this particular day and everyone fancies the soup of the day, then what? Surely can't give days warnings huh? Even though I understand his side what I DID NOT appreciate was his irritated attitude towards me. He could've just as easily said that he could not accommodate an order that size in a friendly tone. But hey, I will assume business is booming and losing me and my friends as once loyal customers isn't a great loss. Good for you Stone Soup, good for you. We will gladly look for another 'mom&pop' business that appreciates our business and orders too large for you to handle. Because as much as we love your hearty hamburger soup, we love appreciation more. Especially during times such as these when it's US, your loyal customers who keep you afloat. In his heavy breathing irritable voice and lecture he was willing to take my order, as if I'd want to order from him now, so I simply thanked him (in a NICE voice) and said I would not want to take away from others who may want the soup too and hung up. Lastly in all fairness I will say that up until today, this incident, Stone Soup and their service (they've delivered to me as well) has always been professional and food was always fresh and delicious. All the 5 Stars you see I agree with, until today. But I'm a person who 'excepts' good service ALL the time when I'm using my hard...
Read moreMy wife and I have gone to Stone Soup off and on for the last 7 years since we moved here. The food has always been top notch. However, over the past few years, we have stopped going so much, mainly due to customer service issues. For example, today I ordered us lunch to go. One of the items that I ordered was an iced mocha, which I specifically remember ordering because I was pleased that the restaurant offered iced coffee drinks. When I got there, I waited for about 5-7 minutes to pick up my order, and noticed while I was waiting that the older man working behind the counter seemed out of sorts. He was slamming stuff down on the counter, he spilled some milk that he removed from the refrigerator, and just seemed like he did not want to be there. When he gave me my order, he told me that my hot mocha was in one of the bags of food. I told him I had ordered an iced mocha and he insisted it had been hot. I told him I knew it was iced because chow now’s menu for Stone Soup offers the iced drinks in a separate place from the regular coffee drinks. He kept arguing with me and finally said “well I can make you another if I need to”. At this point I had watched him slam stuff around and my order was already late (my wife was waiting for me in the car), so I said I would just have a water. One of the other employees came up and told him “can’t you just put it over ice”, which was what I thought he would do in the first place instead of arguing. He insisted that he could make the drink again, and I decided that I just wanted a water and to leave with the rest of the food I had ordered. The older lady who tried to help me was very nice, but the older guy was not. Maybe he should work in the back where he does not need to interact with customers. At any rate, I doubt we will visit the restaurant again. The sandwiches are always good, but the customer service could...
Read moreFood is always great! My go to spot in Richland. Had the enchilada soup like always and it was awsome, and the Ruben with turkey again good sandwich. Potato salad was on point, and the pickle spear is perfect to snack on in between the soup and Ruben. The family that runs it is super nice, never had bad service or felt out of place ever, they make you feel welcome. Only draw back is the price is on par for lunch but the decor is way outdated and the building has a musty smell, I happen to like it . but it is embarrassing at times bringing friends there. I often opt for other venues just so I don't have to hear nasty comments. I believe the old adage is true you eat with your eyes first, wether its the building or the food presentation. I fear if they do not revamp the restaurant, I will lose my favorite place to eat...
