Reservation was at 8pm for three for a birthday dinner. Arrived to a sparsely packed restaurant, however still took nearly 10 minutes for a host to arrive and seat us. Waitress was wonderful - ordered drinks and appetizers to start, and entrees shortly thereafter. Yellowfin was about average, bao buns were pretty disappointing. Drinks were not even started until after we received our apps - we were seated across from the bar and could see two people start/stop making our drinks. Drinks didn't arrive tableside until after appetizers were well finished; one of the three ("Berry Refreshing") was quite nice; the spicy drink ("Come Back and Dance") tasted nothing like the description - it tasted closer to a bad margarita. 45 additional minutes from arrival of drinks before main courses came out. While three people came to apologize for the wait, and offered a variety of reasons why we were waiting, not one of them actually did anything. The ribeye was good, the filet was ok - the herb butter was the star there. My filet trio was really quite bad. The Oscar portion was tasty, but the meat from the other two medallions were left on the plate. One was extremely overcooked; if the Black and Blue topper had been even remotely appetizing (and I adore blue cheese), I may have been able to stomach it. The ML style medallion was entirely too chewy, and just didn't feel like a quality cut of meat. Check had a 20% service fee added. For what? The non-wait staff according to the restaurant. Still tipped the waitress well, but the experience was overall extremely disappointing. You only get one shot at a first impression to your restaurant, and I only had one shot at a meaningful birthday dinner. So here's the deal - I wanted a local steakhouse, and had just visiting what is considered a more higher-end chain steakhouse for an anniversary two nights before. The quality of the food was night and day, and yet I spent MORE per person at ML than the other steakhouse, for largely the same order. Incredibly disappointing. Second star is for waitress alone.

ML Steak is a vibe! The restaurant's curb appeal, the interior design (feels like you are in Los Angeles), the outstanding customer service and most importantly the food gets 5-Stars across the board! My husband and I decided to have dinner at ML in celebration of our 18th anniversary. Nether one of us had eaten all day so you already know we were feeling. Here what we ordered: Hail storm julep 👐🏾👐🏾👐🏾😋😋 Pork boa buns 👐🏾👐🏾👐🏾😋😋 Smoked-fried half Chicken 👐🏾👐🏾👐🏾😋😋 Apple tart 👐🏾👐🏾👐🏾😋😋 I got the smoked fried half chicken which I didn't want to get because whenever I try a new restaurant, I like to try a new type of entree. However, ML kicked the standard fried chicken recipe up 3, 4, 5, 6 notches! The smoked-fried combination is genius! First off you are really being served a half of chicken (which is probably why the entree is served on a huge cutting board) but aside from the size of the bird, the flavor and texture did me in! And the fact that you did not have to ask for hot sauce and honey because it's WARM on the side... Ohhhhhh! Baaaaabbbby!!!! The entree comes with macaroni and cheese (not Mac and cheese, there is a difference) and collard greens. PSA: Please do not substitute for the sides something else, trust the process! And then there's dessert! We had the apple tart with two scoops of bourbon maple ice cream made by Ruby Scoops! (If you know, you know) The crust on that darn tart was made with so much love y'all! Lawd! I was so happy because I'm the girl who will stop eating my dinner midway to leave room for dessert! I saved all my calories for the ML experience and it did not disappoint! Thank you to Mike and Lindsey for continuing to elevate the RVA fine dining experience while also keeping it affordable and flavorful. P.S. that spot near the 'Cheers to Life' grass wall would be perfect for live entertainment! 🤎🤎

Some of recently had a business dinner here… We selected this restaurant based on the good reviews we read online. The day we went it was dead; in fact, we were the only table sat for well over an hour. The service we got from our server was very friendly and nice, but her training was slightly lacking… For instance, I asked how the steaks were prepared and she wasn’t aware. It was fine though, not a big deal, I blame management, not her. Overall, no issues with service, as she was sincerely interested in providing the best service she could. Their menu looked pretty nice, it offered a decent selection of steaks and many other items, including fried chicken. Their side dishes were also rather appealing. One member of our party got a rib eye and he said it was outstanding! I got the filet and it was loaded with gristle, not what I’d expect from a steakhouse. Interesting that their steaks came with steak sauce, something nice steakhouses will never offer, but some do make a special/unique sauce and I would assume that is what this was. It was nice and actually helped with my filet. The crab cake that I got as an accompaniment with the steak was really good though. Their spinach side dish was great, it was perfectly prepared. Their apple dessert was really good… served with ice cream, it was a nice finish to the meal. Wine list was pretty bad… the syrah I selected said it was a 2010 on the menu, but that’s not the vintage we got, and it tasted like water. For a steakhouse, it didn’t have the wine I’d expect, the quality of meat I’d expect, not the trained staff I’d expect. I heard this was part of the same chain as Lillie Pearl, yet it is vastly different from that restaurant in many ways.

We were dining in for our four year anniversary as we always try a new place for each occasion. I am a big fan of all of Mr.Mikes chains and was excited to try this establishment. We entered in and the host was kind and promptly cleared our table and sat us upon arrival. We did not get greeted for at least ten minutes, we immediately ordered appetizers as we had been left sitting. And another ten minutes later with only waters on the table another server came over to greet us. After twenty minutes, one the second server should have approached us before that if he thought we did not have a server and the first server should have been back. Soon after the second server approached us the store/host stand calls us twenty-thirty minutes into our meal asking us if we are still coming? The communication seemed completely off, and it is very unprofessional to receive a call having already been seated. My husband had to wave at the host to show her where we were as she was looking around confused. I did not catch our servers name. But I could count the amount of times she came to the table on one hand, and the most attentive and personable she’d became was when she was receiving her 20% guaranteed tip. We did not get checked on at all for our appetizers and my Husband could not eat his salad until at least ten minutes later because the appetizer was missing the croutons as listed on the menu, and she did not promptly bring them back. We were waiting for a check back so we could have drinks, obviously we did not get those for twenty minutes of just sitting. In all of this experience the servers are just standing around, chatting with one another or with the bartender in pretty much every corner. Very unprofessional when we can look anywhere in the restaurant and see this happening. Then receiving our entrees the man who delivered them at least said he would be back to check if our steaks were cooked properly. He seemed to be the only server I saw doing a decent job, and the most experienced server. The manager came by and we asked for salt and pepper, and the server was just staring and only seemed intrigued with the manager at the table and rushed over. We then let her know that my partners steak was cooked medium well, instead of medium rare. As well as our potatoes being very very cold when delivered, as we were at least going to eat those while we waited for recook but could not. The manager delivered the recook and he was very kind and sweet and the only person who seemed to genuinely care. However, very disappointing the second steak much better and mash potatoes arriving warmer the Oscar topping on his recook was very much lackluster compared to the previous. My food by the time he got his was cold. I refused to eat in front of my husband on our anniversary while he had no entree because it was supposed to be a great experience for us to enjoy TOGETHER. The manager did 50% the recook, but for this whole experience I would not come back. The service was really disheartening. He has been a server for thirteen years, and me six so to say this really breaks my heart, but there has never been a place less deserving of a tip than this one. No dessert was offered, no next round, no check in’s, no conversation. You can tell this place really just expects the 20% and works for no extra, which when you work at a place that is splitting it among so many you would expect better work. It came to my knowledge he let them know it was our anniversary and no “happy anniversary,” no nothing was mentioned. At my establishment we do complimentary champagne or dessert, and same for his. We also make sure guest experience comes first and whatever occasion is acknowledged. We opted for another round of drinks and dessert at another location because the service did not deserve another penny out of us. Ruined the mood of our anniversary dinner and I really could not be more disappointed. I have never left a review anywhere, and my first one...

A Memorable Dining Experience at ML Steak

Introduction: My family recently had the pleasure of dining at ML Steak (chesterfield) for my husband’s birthday, and I must say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The restaurant not only impressed me with its delectable menu but also with its attentive and accommodating service. From the moment we stepped inside, we were made to feel like valued guests, as the staff quickly learned our names and addressed us personally.

Ambiance: The ambiance at ML Steak is inviting and elegant, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The dim lighting, comfortable seating, and tasteful decor set the stage for a memorable evening. Whether you're looking for a romantic dinner or a gathering with friends, ML Steak provides the perfect setting.

Service: The service at ML Steak was truly outstanding. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction throughout the entire meal. Not only were they attentive and prompt, but they also took the time to learn our names and addressed us personally, adding a personal touch to the dining experience. The staff was abundantly accommodating, catering to our needs and making helpful recommendations. Mr. Lindsey came over to visit us a few times as well and told us about the restaurant and the new ones coming soon.

Appetizers: We started our dining experience with the Tuna appetizer and Bao buns appetizer, and both were outstanding. The Tuna appetizer was beautifully presented and the flavors were perfectly balanced. The Bao buns were soft and filled with a delicious combination of flavors and a kick at the end, leaving us wanting more.

Main Courses: The main courses at ML Steak were nothing short of exceptional. We ordered a large variety of items including the ribeye, ribs, prime rib, and half chicken were all cooked to perfection. Each dish was bursting with flavor and accompanied by well-executed sides. The attention to detail and quality of ingredients were evident in every bite. The tender ribeye melted in my mouth, while the ribs were incredibly juicy and full of smoky goodness. The prime rib was cooked to perfection, with a rich and succulent taste. The half chicken was moist and flavorful, a true delight.

Conclusion: ML Steak exceeded my expectations in every aspect. From the impeccable service to the remarkable food quality, this restaurant truly stands out. The staff's personal touch and attention to detail made the dining experience even more special. Whether you're a meat lover or seeking a memorable dining experience, ML Steak is a must-visit. I highly recommend this restaurant and can't wait to return for another...

ML Steakhouse was an amazing establishment on my first visit in November 2022 as they had just opened and things were on point but last night was totally a disaster! We had reservations at 8 PM and we literally waited over an hour to be seated due to another reservation increasing their seating which their policy says only 10 but they had 14 people inconveniencing another reservation. After the long wait and then our party being seated by the door on the coldest night this winter we literally have seen we all were freezing every time when the door opened and closed with people coming in and out. Although the manager on duty apologized it went downhill even more when the waitress Suki was not attentive to details and literally messed up half the drinks and was forgetting anything asked down to straws, drinks, specifications on orders which made it hard to want to stay. Even though it was my friends birthday dinner the manager only catered to her as if we were not paying customers as well. He comped her stuff but a good time 10 % discount would have showed us he cared or even a dessert but nothing. I requested another waitress and they fixed it with another one this young lady seemed eager to change the dynamics of service for a moment. She assisted with getting the orders caught up along with another gentleman but this is where I was extremely disappointed. For the price point of the food, it should be hot coming from the kitchen. Most of the entrees were luke warm as if they were made and just sitting. The young lady Ari our second waitress then changed as people shared their food disappointments and her attitude turned poor. One whole order was not even placed and by this time we were getting the checks which was crazy. I was highly irritated and ready to go because I had recommended this business to several friends after my first experience. New businesses shouldn’t get too complacent that people will continue to patronize you again when service is poor. My bill was $121.93 for one person, the food was not good, and I doubt I will return because my food was not as expected and cold. My best friend packed his food and left it on the table $92 plus tax wasted of our hard earned money. Please do better when you have a large party and think of all the guest not just the person responsible for the reservation. A party of 10 shouldn’t all be complain of cold food in one sitting. It’s not a good look! You might want to reconsider your policy when you pay on cash that you don’t get any change, this is not fair to...
