I visited Spyhouse Coffee Roasters in Rochester on a quiet Sunday morning, and it instantly stood out as a refined, intentional space that takes coffee seriously. During my first visit to Rochester, I stopped in here both mornings of my stay. The coffee was excellent! The shop is warm, cozy, and had plenty of comfortable seating options inside and out. The baked goods are excellent here!

I was excited to stop in again while visiting for the second time. I ordered what I thought was a tiramisu latte to go. It didn’t taste right, it wasn’t sweet at all, very bitter. Turns out, they hadn’t been able to hear me over their own chatting behind the counter, and rang me up for and served a plain latte instead. I’d already returned to my hotel before realizing this, which was really disappointing. I’d had such pleasant experiences here before.

Spyhouse Cafe is a welcome addition to our city. Our HERO Triathlon and Run Team are regulars for coffee meetups and we are always made to feel very welcome. Firstly the coffee is outstanding. The strength and flavor of all of their coffees is great. I believe that the cafe atmosphere is the best in town - modern, comfortable and clean, with various seating options, including overflow. The free wifi is very good. The staff are always friendly and they clear lines very efficiently when it is busy.
