McAlister's Deli — Restaurant in Rome

Never eating here again, for several reasons:

First & most importantly.. my partner & I both got terrible food poisoning from this restaurant. We ordered carry-out on Wed. 12/29, each of us getting a different sandwich and same side salad. Salad seemed a little off; served in different containers than usual, and not as fresh as it usually is, but not noticeably bad or rotten. After that my partner went down to Atlanta overnight to stay with a friend.. it was the only meal we both ate together that day. Next morning, we both had horrible stomach cramps, reflux, and vomiting.. at the exact same time, in different cities. Make of that what you will.. not a coincidence, if you ask me. Not sure if it was bad lettuce or a hygiene issue but the side salad was the only item we both shared. My vomiting happened on my hour-long drive into work and needless to say it completely ruined my day.

As if that wasn't reason enough to never give this business my money again:

More than once we haven't received any pickles with our order

Partner has had LONG wait for a pickup order placed well in advance more than once, only to have customers behind him in line get their food first & items missing once food is finally done. Makes you question why bother ordering ahead in the first place.

Not a single time we have ordered ahead and gone through drivethrough has the touch-screen pickup system worked. Twice it has been blank with no names at all and another time it didn't register any touch input. At this point they might as well just give up on any functioning order-ahead, which is a definite knock for any restaurant these days.

I love McAlister's food, but after our experiences here that's it for ever eating from this location again, if not the brand entirely. It should never feel like rolling the dice just to order food from...

This was my very first time eating at McAllister ‘s! So I was feeling kind of azy so I decided to do a online order. Their menu online was easy to look at but it was kind of hard to understand what was actually ordered and put into the cart because it seem like it asked the same question twice and yet nothing was in my cart. So when I finally get it ordered and I check out. (I ordered a club sandwich with the chicken tortellini soup(which taste like a chicken taco cheesy soup ) and a dill spear) So I was instructed to pull up to the ordering screen and pick my name to let them know that I had arrive... That part was super simple and the ordering screen was really big and so were the names. So I picked my name and pulled around to the window..After receiving my food I pull over to make sure everything that I ordered was there and it was not! The sandwich that I clicked online and the little square that I checked to get a dill pickle Obviously doesn’t lead to the right thing.... What I ended up getting was a half of a sandwich which was a very small sandwich no pickle and I got the right size soup.... The sandwich had two pieces of bread with only lettuce and tomato and two pieces of bread with the meat and the cheese... so basically I feel like The portion size was exaggerated on the menu online. You only actually get a half of a sandwich.... that is half of a small sandwich...And it does not tell you that on the website ......but other than that the food is great it was so very tasty everything was fresh!...

I had never been to McAlister’s before, so I was excited since it had great reviews.

The staff were very nice, and place was nice and clean.

I got the Reuben, asked for chips and got a fountain drink. First I was hit with sticker shock since my order came to over $15…. For a sandwich, chips and a drink, but ok. I thought maybe the chips would be homemade or something for that price (nope… just a little bag of some other brand). The drink alone was apparently $3.29 …. That’s ridiculous… granted it was a pretty big cup…. So ok. I didn’t realize that before I ordered it.

Then they handed me my order in a bag, which was disappointingly light weight compared to what I was expecting for $15. ($12.xx for sandwhich and chips). Unfortunately it was even more disappointing once I got to my car and opened my sandwich. I love reubens, but this one just didn’t have much flavor and was dry. The bread wasn’t really toasted, and practically no sauerkraut or dressing at all. The beef was alright… I could tell it was good quality, but still lacked flavor. Definitely not worth my $15.xx. Oh… I didn’t even get my pickle I asked for. 😂 so there’s that, too.

For the prices they want, I’ll...
