Thank you to Marshawn for the worst dinning experience ever. He asked what we would like to drink and I said a water with lemon and apple juice for my toddler. So he brings the drinks and the apple juice was in a regular cup. I didn't say anything about it but I mentioned my daughter's water that was in a styrofoam cup had lint and stuff all over it. While placing my daughter order ...I ordered her pancakes and I explained to him I'd pay for a side of sausage patties. He kept cutting me off and telling me it comes with a link and it's no upcharging. I was still kind and informed him that's why I wanted a side of patties and knew I would be paying for a side. But if he was listening he would have heard me the first time instead of running his mouth and cutting me off constantly. Also my daughter was drinking the apple juice out of the regular cup that he brought to our table then said management was going to be mad if they saw her drinking apple juice for that cup. I was like huh and just tried to keep quiet. He brought her a kids apple juice which I had wanted in the first place. While we're waiting for our food. I'm listening to him tell the table of ladies behind us how he only makes $2.00 an hour if people people tip, talking about the serving industry sucks, and what states have certain policies for servers, and just nonstop complaining about numerous things. My toddler food comes out and her sausage patties was full of lint. I waved him over and informed him it had lint on them. He said he could replace them and I said okay and thank you. He brings them out and guess what they are full of lint again. I sit them to the side of the table and I said to myself I'll just have them take them off because it was clearly a problem in the kitchen that they kept having lint on them. I'm feeding my toddler her pancakes and as he walked over I took a bite of one. ( I tasted one to make sure they were fine). He rudely started telling me he was going to charge me the adult price and being very aggressive. I told him I wasn't going to argue with him to please go get a manager. Everyone at the tables around was looking at us. I talked to a lady who was a manager about the sausage and him as well I told her I was so embarrassed and felt like everyone was looking at me I just wanted to run out of there. It was horrible. I got my daughter, paid, and got out of there so fast. I would never return here again. Marshawn has no business serving people with a bad attitude and talking poorly...
Read moreBeen here before and it was really good, went back with the family today and the service and food were absolutely terrible. I don't think we will be going back.
It started when I put my name on the wait-list I was told about 20-30 minute wait. After waiting for about 50 minutes we noticed groups getting seated that arrived long after we did. At this point I went up to the counter to ask and they looked at the list and my name had been crossed out! They did seat us immediately but no one offered us any apology for the issue.
We were unfortunately sat in the glass awning area which was about 10 degrees hotter than the rest of the restaurant. It was only 65 outside but it felt like it was at least 80 in there. It was very uncomfortable.
We ordered our food and shortly after a different waitress came around to inform us that the kitchen is very busy and our food would take awhile but that it would be really good and worth the wait. Unfortunately it wasn't worth the wait at all.
My girlfriend got a country fried steak breakfast and there were eggshells in every bite of eggs and the hashbrowns were not cooked at all! They were completely inedible and she lost her appetite. She also ordered toast but the waitress brought her pancakes. We let her know and she quickly brought out the toast, but we didn't realize the other problems with all the food until afterwards and she never came back until we flagged her down and asked for the check.
I ordered a skillet and while I didn't have a bunch of eggshells in my eggs, my hashbrowns at the bottom were also raw and gross.
We were there for nearly 2 hours, and at no point did anyone ask us if our food was ok. Since we were running late from everything taking so long and incredibly uncomfortable from how hot it was in there, we just wanted to get out. I went to pay the bill and again no one asked how our meal was or if we had any problems, the guy just asked if I was paying with cash or card then pointed to the card reader. I should have said something about our terrible food at this point but we were running late for other commitments and we were just feeling miserable and just wanted to be on our way.
We eat out all the time and haven't had a bad experience in years. I don't like writing bad reviews but we were so let down by our experience. Hopefully no one else has an...
Read moreWe stopped for breakfast while we were on a road trip. At 11:30 the parking lot which is pretty large was filled with cars there was almost no place to park. When we finally found a place and then went inside I couldn't believe how busy the place was and it's a large restaurant. In fact we had about we had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. Sophia builds itself out as a pancake house and in fact they had lots of different types of pancakes but they also had various omelets and other breakfast treats. It took about 10 minutes from the time we sat down until we finally had our order taken by the server who was very very nice and apologized for the delay but they were just so so busy. And the reason they were so busy is because the food is very good. The server said they're busy like that almost everyday and especially more so on the weekends. Sunday is the place is loaded after church. I had a Sophie's combo omelette which included eggs sausage bacon green peppers onions pretty much like a Denver omelet except there was just more variety. My wife had an egg sandwich but there was so much egg in and on it that you couldn't pick it up at all and had to use a knife and fork to eat the sandwich cuz it was just so much food. You have a choice of potatoes or fruit as a side dish. The coffee was very good plus they have all the juices and whatever you would imagine a breakfast could be including oatmeal if you so desired. They are open for breakfast lunch and dinner. The bathrooms were very clean and in spite of being so busy the servers were very polite and extremely pleasant. The restaurant gives you a slight discount if you pay with cash instead of a credit card. The restaurant is highly recommended if you are passing through Merrillville Indiana...
