Well, sometimes I crave Sonic, love a sugar free slush, and due to a pretzel obsession I’ll get one now and then. Fast forward to summertime and my rare craving for a milk shake (literally 1-2 times a year) and there it is: SONIC!! I recall they have 50% off shakes in the summer and I pull up thinking I’m gonna get a little treat, so I order, and ask if they’re still 50% off this year…I was told THREE times no, the shakes are not 50% off after 8pm. I was there at 9:30. I left, and googled thinking maybe things had changed due to the pandemic, and it seems as though the special IS taking place? I’m sort of bummed and maybe it was a misunderstanding? I specifically asked to make sure and I realize they were very short staffed, but I would’ve been okay had they simply said they were unable to accommodate my request this evening or they didn’t have enough hands on deck to make a shake honestly I get it places are not able to keep up with staffing right now and I have a lot of empathy for people who are sticking with the service industry because all around places are not able to stay open. The Taco Bell in this little town is now closing at 8 o’clock at night in the summer which is unheard of. So while I understand why they may be didn’t want to deal with my request I wasn’t rude and I even asked if it had something to do with being short staffed and was told that they simply are not offering that special and I asked if it was because of some thing that had changed over the past year and I was just told no we don’t do that. I googled because I know for a fact that last year I got one milkshake and I feel ridiculous even talking about this but if I am the manager or the owner I would want to know that my employees are so overworked and so exhausted and so burned out that they are going to not be open and honest with customers because they can’t keep up with the demand. They were a lot of people parked they were more people in line and I will add they did not have on the lights it looked closed and my assumption is when I’m told we only have two staff people tonight that they are trying to keep people from coming. I understand that we are facing a crisis where no one wants to go back to work and at the end of the day my need for a hot pretzel and milkshake pales in comparison to an employees need to feel safe and validated in their workplace but this is getting crazy. Places are just flat out unable to do business but they still have to pay rent they still have to keep people on the books I am very scared that if this trend continues where people do not go back to work everything is going to close in our economy is going to collapse. I get it if I’m working at sonic and I’m working the night shift and I have to clean and instead of six people there’s two of us I don’t want to do anything I don’t wanna wait on anybody I want to turn the lights off and pretend that we’re not there but at the end of the day that’s going to negatively affect the revenue then sonic is going to close nobody has a job and no money is being funneled back into the economy. I just think management should know the lights are off and they claim they’re not offering a special even though it seems like the special is still happening this summer. I am not angry I’m bummed out and if I’m gonna be honest I’m lactose intolerant and every once a while I get a little banged up maybe once or twice a year and that’s when I drink a milkshake and I couldn’t get one. I didn’t want to have to go there but I do feel like I should explain why I’m so bothered. I have milk at home but I buy lactose free milk nothing works the way a sonic milkshake works and I’m just disappointed. And if I owned that restaurant if that were my business I would not be happy with my employees and turn the lights off in an attempt to make it look closed. I will say they posted a sign where in they asked whomever is ordering to have some patience because they were shortstaffed and I appreciate them being upfront about that and I again Just think y’all need to offer better...
Read moreI used the ap to order since all of the corrals weren't being used I'm guessing due to COVID-19. After picking up my order at the drive-thru, I noticed that I was given tater tots, not the onion rings I ordered and paid for. I pulled back up to the drive-thru speaker and asked about my order. I was told that the onion rings "weren't ready." I asked how long would they take to cook and was told that it'd be an hour or so because the onions weren't even cut. This is after 11a, an hour after opening and they had not yet been prepped? I then asked for a refund of the difference or a total refund for the tots as I cannot eat tater tots due to an allergy. I was told that I could not be given a refund because I paid through the ap. I asked if she (the drive-thru employee) even checked my bag before going out of the window. I was told that she "didn't bag the order so she didn't know what was in the bag." I asked why doesn't she double check her orders before handing them out - no response. I asked why didn't the person bagging the order double check the order, mention it to the drive-thru employee so that I may be offered a different side at least. She said she didn't know. I asked why they didn't mention this to me before handing me my food to see if they had the order correct, or, if they knowingly gave me the wrong item, why not OFFER something different rather than assume people can eat whatever you give them. I feel this was inconsiderate of both employees as no one apparently looked at the order when it was placed and consider a replacement after speaking with me about it. I called corporate... I was offered a free burger, but I live 45 miles away. This was my second visit in the six years I've been back in Findlay. I'm not going to drive 45 miles for a burger that'll probably be just as dry as the one...
Read more1st time trying Sonics drive in. Pulled in and looked the menu over, lots to select from. Pressed the red button to activate service and waited..............finally ordered ordered athe 3 PC. tenders dinner and drink, (comes with tots &1 micro onion ring). Also ordered the Coney meal combo, comes with a drink and tots or fries. Told the server I wanted tots with the combo and a strawberry shake. The server also told me if I wanted tots with the diner I would have to order. This was quite an ordeal as after screaming for the 3rd time I wanted tots she placed them on the order. My order came with a drink so I ordered a chocolate shake. Not being told if you change your drink order it's not just a slight up charge, they charge you more than the 1/2 price after 8 pm.and get no drink credit. The bill came to 18.xx for a 7.xx dinner and a 5.xx coney combo. When I got the dinner it included tots so I wondered why I was charged or had to place a separate order for tots......moving along I then wondered why my shakes were more than the 1/2 price of the after 8 PM advertised price. 1st try at talking to one of the employees didnt get much of an answer. Then asked to speak to a real manager. Something to do with corporate policy on the shakes.......refund for the extra tots and 2 soft drinks later. My Sonic experiance is done, and by done I mean most likely not again. They do things different, and based on the two idiots that do there commercials I understand. Good luck and...
