I was very pleasantly surprised by Good Neighbor. Atmosphere: Walking in, it is slightly confusing. There’s an entrance from the street and an entrance from the side patio. The entrance from the side patio is where you’ll want to go because it leads you toward the check in counter whereas the entrance from the street will lead you to the bar and when the bartender tried to direct me to the counter, he was rather vague and I couldn’t tell where I was actually supposed to go. The check in counter is located in the back of the restaurant which seems counterintuitive. Eventually, I figured it out, but I wish maybe there was a sign above the check in counter or something that could lead you to it easier. That’s truly my ONLY gripe about this place. Service: I came in for lunch and the service was quick. I’m unsure how I feel about the cube they put out at the table for service and to pay to make the experience more convenient, but I will say it’s not inconvenient. Food: The food came out fast and was hot and fresh. I ordered the fritto misto and the mushroom pizza. Fritto Misto: I’ve never had a fritto misto before, but all I can say is GET IT. The shrimp was juicy, the calamari was perfectly fried and not rubbery, the leeks, olives, lemons, etc were crispy, everything was seasoned to perfection, and nothing on the plate was soggy. The aioli served on the side for dipping is the perfect pairing. Mushroom pizza: I’ve had my fair share of pizza in downtown sac and this is for sure up there. The crust was baked well and crispy; no burnt or soggy bottoms here. The flavors were rich and reminiscent of french onion soup. Innovative or mindblowing? No, I wouldn’t say so, but it’s certainly delicious and with many local pizza restaurants in sac only specializing in pizza and a few other items, you’d be surprised that this restaurant, with its wide variety in their menu can pull off a pizza that rivals some of the mainstays.
Overall, I left my lunch totally satisfied and excited to eat my leftovers. I’ll definitely be coming back to try some...

Read moreDipped in to try this. Didn't stay because: It opens at 11 and the restaurant wasn't properly set up before opening. I ordered Mussels (at counter service.) On the printed menu, that item is $21. Once ordered, it rings up as $23. I ordered a diet coke. The host handed me a can of diet coke. It rang up for $5. No mention of a glass of ice until I asked and he said 'Sure, I can get you a glass and ice from the bar.' I don't think he was going to offer anything! The 'tap' system wasn't working so he said I could 'read him my card number' but I hadn't brought my wallet as I was out for a walk and this was an impromptu visit.
That's the real reason I left, but so far, I'm a little depressed. I used to work in restaurant service and Beast & Bounty was so lovely...even though they did have surly hosts. The wait and bar staff was amazing. My counter guy wasn't surly, he was nice...but overall this was a weird experience. Will definitely try it once they pull...
