Jet's — Restaurant in Sacramento

Considering that I've been to two (2) private events here, it was only a matter of time that I just had to try the actual food at "Jet's American Grill & Bar" located in the heart of Midtown Sacramento. Opened back in December 2021, Jet's is situated directly on 20th St. and tucked in between L St. and Capitol Ave. in the Lavender Heights/Handle District neighborhood of Sacramento. Those of you that wish to drive here, parking can be a challenge, especially evenings and weekends. My recommendation is to come by foot, bike, public transit, or Uber/Lyft.

My most recent visit was during the evening of Saturday 6/11/2022 from 8:00-9:30pm. What was really sweet was that they had over a dozen DJ's spinning a mixture of deep house, acid jazz, worldbeat, and high energy music to get the night going. This took place from 6pm-close and was hosted by Irie Mike & Jewlz Cezar. I particularly enjoyed how there was a special area dedicated area for the DJ's.

The entire layout of this place is that there are two separate rooms; one of which was the DJ area complete with a small dance floor, several tables & booths (for dining) while the other room has more adjacent seating and a small bar area. This area was close to the lone restroom. The bar itself offers a nice variety of exclusive cocktails, beer, cider, and well drinks. What makes this place very special was that they had a very nice outdoor seating area; large enough to fit several groups very comfortably. During my visit, it was a packed house, most likely since this was Pride weekend & the DJ's that were performing.

Now onto the food! Since I have already sampled much of food from the previous private events, I already had a general idea of what to order. This is pure pub-styled comfort food at its finest where calories don't count. Therefore, I went with the "Buffalo Chicken Fries" as my appetizer of choice while my main dish consisted of the "Outwest Burger". This over-the-top was fully loaded and offered Wagyu meat which is cream-of-the-crop for a burger. It also included bacon, onion strings, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, BBQ sauce, and garlic aioli.

I would've given this entire experience 5-stars with this review but my order unfortunately didn't go through! Once placing my order (which was around 8:20pm), I didn't get my food until 9:10pm, roughly 50 minutes later. I explained this to the employees and they were ALL very apologetic with my food order falling through the cracks. It was not one, not two, but three staff members that came up to me saying how sorry they were. Had I not been so entertained with the music spinning and the whole positive vibe, I would be more upset but I was in a good mood; especially when surrounded by a ton of people.

As I mentioned, I did not let this experience drop this to an average rating so I wanted to give "Jet's American Grill & Bar" the benefit of the doubt by giving them a respectable 4-star rating. Especially with how busy they were during my most recent visit. And of course for 22-year old owner Jet Bonanno being the youngest owner to start a food business which is absolutely incredible. I think with this place being prime location in Midtown Sacramento, a generous food menu (at affordable prices), and an overall good vibe should be well enough for Jet's to takeoff...

I don’t like the way that I was treated. They complained that there was only one person doing everything thus was why I had to wait to get my order taken. However I see the one server outside having a good time and clapping it up with old friends. Other individuals and groups also Walked in behind me, yet they were provided service first. The server acknowledged me multiple times and decided to continue being busy for other individuals. I did not get my order taken until I had to get up from my seat and take my own order. Then when I expressed my issue, the server had a attitude about being the only server. I understand being the only staff but when I’m hungry, I need to be acknowledged when I’m clearly the next person that the server should have served. It may not have been discriminatory, However it felt that way when the server showed extra attention to other individuals. I haven’t done anything wrong or had any attitude with the lady that directed me to be seated. I do not understand why I was treated this way today. I will not be eating at JETS again. We went late night and it is a open air outside style bar/app environment vibe. I enjoyed the variety of people and the Artichokes are a must have. Although, don’t go there expecting a lot for your buck! WOW, I almost fell out of my chair later when my boyfriend tells me that the bill for 2 orders of Fried Artichokes, (which are of course Artichoke Hearts and there were 4 small pcs., not 8 as the menu said or add some lemon wedges or something. Then he got the Jet’s burger. He had to order fries separately. Everything there is basically ala’ Carte. You’re not cooking out of your kitchen or trailer anymore,Jet. Raise the Bar We got 2 Vodka Melon drinks those were good. Now the price.

So a burger fries, artichoke hearts and 2 drinks which I knew would jump the price up! TOTAL: w/o tip: $74.86 😳 And we had to go up to the bar area to get napkins and utensils. It was dead on a Monday night and our food was just brought to us we never saw anyone again so went up to the bar to get napkins and the bar tender didn’t even look in my direction. So all N all not going to return. Thank goodness for the company and the those yummy $20+ drinks or it would get 0 stars.
