So it’s Saturday (6/24) night and the family’s hungry. Couldn’t decide where to go. Son had an idea to try this place out. He’s been here once before, said it’s a pretty cool spot to grab a bite. We’re up for trying different things. The place is pretty cool. Tucked in between the alleyway in downtown. The set up is inviting and gives out a great vibe (5/5). Service was pretty cool. You walk up to the ordering counter, place your order, get handed a number, and you find you own table. Don’t mind that one bit at all for a chill place to dine (5/5). We waited about 15 - 20 minutes or so before our pizzas came. We ordered three. While the pizza was good, I must admit it wasn’t exciting when compared to other pizza parlors serving gourmet pizzas. Portions are on the smaller size for the price. The pizza is made with minimal amount of crust (which is preferred by some) with lite amount of toppings. Taste wise, it’s not bad but not exciting. I would give it a 3/5. The atmosphere is great though and the staff friendly. Over all, I would give this place a 4/5 and a value to price ration of 4/5 also. It’s not a place that would top my list to go to for the food but certainly a place to go to socialize and grab a bite to eat. If you’re in the area with friends and looking for something not super fancy, gives out a good vibe where food taste/quality is not a deal breaker, then this is a place worth checking out.

I came walking over from the Farmer's Market ( a little sign told me to come here for wood-fired pizza and beer ). I had to use google maps to find this little hidden gem in the alley since I'm not from Sacramento and am totally unfamiliar with the area, but I am so glad I stopped in. The guy behind the counter was super helpful ( I have a nut allergy and I am not a fan of tomato sauce on pizza... or onions... I KNOW! SORRY! ) He just made it so easy to decide what to order and I ended up ordering The Stanford w/o the pesto and red onions. The wait time was about maybe 10 minutes? The dough was thin & soft, but with great flavor! I planned to maybe eat half and save the rest, but it was so good, tip-to-crust that I practically devoured the entire thing! So if you're in the area and craving REAL pizza, I recommend this place a "MUST TRY!"... and then become a regular. They also have a game stand next to the water shelf, and they advertise Free Bingo on Tuesdays! All I know is the next time I'm in Sac, I will definitely be back 😉👍🏼

Unfortunately, this restaurant missed the mark for my BF and I. The concept is good. Large storage container as the location is clever and totally works. The food and some of the wait staff is where it falls apart. Neopolitan style pizza is thin crust cooked in 900 degree heat for 90 seconds. The crust comes out cracker style crisp. Here, the waitress told us they cook it at 500-600 degree oven for 5 minutes. The outer crust is slightly burnt and that's ok, but the whole middle is a soggy mess. When we addressed this to the waitress she tried to BS her story and then proceeded to dismiss our concerns by saying to us,"I'm so glad you like our food!" WTH? We were flabbergasted. We got up and left. I would talk more about how they ruined a salad but 1. How can anyone f up a salad? 2. It wouldn't be worth my time. I'm bummed out that this place lost us. The flavor of the pizza sauce was nice and the girl who took our order was great, but that's it.

Let me start by saying I understand how pathetic this review may sound, and also that this place has so many wonderful reviews for a reason. However, my experience sucked. My one and only time trying this place, we rolled up at like 9...the idea and design was unique, oh damn, this place is legit....the chick at the counter was cool and nice. Yeah, legit for sure....She told us the pizza would only take about five minutes....nice... so I didn't order a drink, since we planned on taking it to go. Strategy. My girl ordered a drink (alcoholic) anyway, and we sat. Anyway, to the point...Two separate groups of customers came in AFTER us, and got their pizzas BEFORE us....oh damn, they must have ordered ahead of time...nope....THIRTY minutes passed by with us just sitting there like confused losers...Hmmm, maybe the pineapple on our pizza is made to order and they need to ship the pineapple and then cut it before placing it on the pizza...or perhaps a 2-hour Amazon shipment is their thing...would have made sense. The server and the cool/nice chick at the register just kept walking by us over and over. No one said anything!! I thought I was under an invisibility cloak since we were just sitting there, clearly way over the "5 minute" estimate. No apologies, not even an acknowledgment of the fact that I was in fact NOT under an invisibility cloak-and that someone either ate the first four of our pizzas that they had time to make-or that they just hated us for being too friendly and giving an obligatory 15% tip on the little iPad before even being served. I can't believe how awful it was. Oh, and the pizza was flimsy as f. All the toppings just fell right off. It was like putting wood screws on a piece of...

The pizza here is really something to brag about, so I’m going to! Each time we’ve visited we have had a great time sitting at the wooden picnic style seating while sipping some ice cold beers and enjoying some amazing pizzas. The staff is friendly and while the place doesn’t have a lot of frills it definitely does what it sets out to really well.

When we’ve visited there have been different beers to choose from and while there are a lot of pizza options available we’ve stuck to the tried and true cheese and pepperoni. I like to think that if a restaurant can do that right they’re serving up some good pie, the less toppings you have to hide behind the more you sauce, crust and cheese needs to shine.

The Federalist pizzas come out piping hot with a nice thin crust and all that hot melty cheese. These slices are perfect for the fold method of eating and will definitely flop if you’re trying to eat it like a thicker slice... you might see some of that cheese and any toppings slide off with it. This is exactly how I like my pizza!

The bocce court is a fun addition but has some holes in the court that you can look at as extra challenges. We’ve played and also watched children use this space to use up some energy.

There are also two single person unisex bathrooms at the end of the restaurant that are kept clean. When it’s busy it is a bit harder to keep track of when they’re in use and make 100%sure you lock it behind you or you’ll definitely have someone walk in.

For people who like a great pizza, drinks and a fun atmosphere this...

Edit: I had to come back and edit my original review. I suggested coming here for dinner on a random Thursday in October when the temp high of the day was 102 degrees. I've been here when the new deal happy hour was honored and thought it'd be a great time to grab happy hour. The restaurant was not really busy at this time (around 7pm) but the girl at the register was super rude and in a rush for some reason. We told her about this happy hour, but she said she needed to ask someone about it. That person apparently told her that it was 89 degrees right now not 102 degrees and she wouldn't honor the happy hour despite the high of the day reaching triple digits. I tried to show her the website on my phone, but she was very rudely brushing it off. I asked to speak to a manager so we can clarify, and I can show them their own website. She said there was no manager available and she "talked to someone who's worked here awhile." I tried again to show the website of the restaurant's own menu, and she brushed me off saying, "I don't know. I just work here."

This experience was really off putting. We weren't rude, abrasive, or demanding in anyway, so I don't understand the attitude. If this girl was new, she needs to be more familiar with the restaurant's menu and also needs to be able to communicate and listen before completely shutting out a conversation. Although we've been enjoying this restaurant for awhile now, I don't think I'd be comfortable coming back with how bad that...
