What a surprising gem my husband and I found on our vacation to St.Pete’s Beach. I just wanted a nice coffee, I’m not usually a fan of chocolate. I got a lovely latte but this was all-together a different experience. I had no idea what I was in for…what an absolute classy treat! First - We were greeted by the staff and owner who were so kind and friendly…great smiles and personalities. We felt very welcomed which makes all the difference. You can be an incredible artist but when you treat others with kindness and respect that makes your brand shine with authentic class. They welcomed us to try their samples and if they hadn’t I don’t know if I would have ever known how amazing their artisan chocolates were. Kindness goes a long way, it adds love to what you do. Second - everything is absolutely beautiful. Stunning art work to look at BUT it’s not just beauty to look at the taste is out of this world! The salted caramel bon-bons were our favorite. All senses shut down and bowed to our taste buds when we bit into these divine art pieces. We couldn’t even talk as we took in the moment, no joke. They are absolutely amazing! There’s an amazing symphony of sweet chocolate notes balanced perfectly with crescendo of savory as you bite into them. The best way to explain these master pieces is with music. If you want the taste of a symphony in your mouth from crescendo to the climax with a smooth decrescendo then you have to try CocoAddiction. Third - We love their branding from the logo to packaging everything is well thought through and done with integrity. My only sad thought is we don’t have them where we live; however, that is the make of a true artist - When you are this good, people will come to you. We wish you all the best of success and are looking forward to our next visit. Thank you so much for an all around...
Read moreCocoa Addiction is absolutely amazing. I've traveled all over Europe and the U.S., and in my experience, pastry and chocolate of the caliber on offer at Cocoa Addiction are found in the States only exceedingly rarely; in fact, I've only ever found one other pastry shop (in NYC, incidentally also owned and operated by a master French pastry chef) that's as good as Cocoa Addiction. The pastries here are nothing short of incredible. It's the equivalent of the highest caliber places you might find in France or Italy, which isn't surprising when you consider that the owner/operator is a bona fide master French pastry chef.
The service is also top notch. It's fast and given with a smile. Even the coffee is expertly prepared (and literally puts every coffee shop in a hundred mile radius to shame). You can just tell that every member of the staff loves what they do, and they truly delight in watching the looks of amazement on their customers' faces as they eat the insanely delectable pastries.
One thing to note that may not be well known yet: Cocoa Addiction does custom orders and catering. If you can imagine it, the master French pastry chef and his staff can probably create it. I recently ordered some Napoleons for my wife's birthday. Mind blowingly incredible. I've had dessert at 2 and 3 star Michelin restaurants that wasn't even close to this good.
Perhaps the most amazing thing is that Cocoa Addiction is in St. Pete Beach of all places! Mind you, if it were in Paris, I would literally schedule an annual trip just to go there. If I lived in CA, I'd fly across the country just to visit. But as it stands, this amazing, world class pastry shop and chocolatier is just down the street.
Words really cannot describe just how amazing this place is. Go there and see for yourself. I promise you will not be...
Read moreIf I could give no star I would. Place was empty and the atmosphere (minus the rude employee managing the front) was awesome but the customer service is absolutely terrible! We walked in and at first nobody was there. She (didn’t catch her name) came from the back and said “Do you know what you want”! Not hello welcome, what can I get for you! No pleasant greeting at all. She seemed annoyed to have to help customers which explains why she had the open sign turned off. We ordered, and then she stood over by the chocolate while I was still selecting options for tip/receipt and loudly started snapping the tongs in the air. The lady was beyond rude and we definitely will not be back! Tried to have a conversation with her but it was clear she was either a hateful person or just having a terrible day. The chocolate wasn’t worth the terrible experience.
Response to owner: No thank you. Any owner who hires a person with that type of terrible customer service is not an establishment that I, family members, or friends care to associate ourselves with. After our horrendous experience I looked at other 1 star reviews and sure enough it has happened to others, with your response to them, to request a different barista! I will gladly spend money elsewhere versus at your establishment where your employee clearly have...
