Willy's Burgers — Restaurant in Saint Pete Beach

Visited Willy's late evening on April 24th. I wanted to order carryout. I called the establishment twice. Each time it went to voice mail with a 'mailbox full' message. We decided to drive over and order in person. My first visit, so I tried to take it all in. Very small and crowded. It took a couple of minutes to get waited on. Staff was carrying on a conversation behind the bar. Bartender came over. He was very pleasant. I told him I wanted to make a carryout order. He said, "Let me check with the kitchen to see if they will do a carryout. Now, when I said it was crowded, I mean tight. Maybe only half the seats were occupied. Bartender came back and took my order. I ordered two cheeseburgers, medium well, tater tots and baked beans. Meanwhile a woman pushed in next to me to sit down on a stool. She was sloppy drunk and extremely loud. She was screaming in my ear. I moved down. I told the bartender I would pay, leave and return for my food. He told me to come back in 15 minutes. I came back. Unfortunately, I had to stand near the same 'woman'. She was still loud, now singing and flailing her arms. People spoke to her like she 'may' work there, but she was off duty. In about 8 minutes the bartender handed me my bag of food. Again, he was very cordial. He is clearly used to this atmosphere. I did notice that the place looked like it could use a deep cleaning. Anyway, as far as the bartender, I would give him 4 stars. We took the food home, opened it and it looked delicious. My wife cut her burger in half, it was raw in the middle. I checked my burger, it was cooked the same way. I would have called to let them know, but as mentioned, they have their phone out of order. I ate around the edges of my burger. It was good.....really good. But I had to throw more than half of it away. So, you couldn't answer the phone, the atmosphere was horrible and a bit dirty. I had to drive there to place my order, and even then felt lucky that they accepted it. Then bought and paid for food that went to the wastebasket. I know people love under cooked burgers, we do not. Look at the TONS of ground beef on recall at this very minute. I very clearly ordered them medium well. The bartender even asked me twice. The few bites I did get, I see why people would like the burgers. Just two much wrong for me to recommend...

I wish I could give this place ZERO stars. My 3 teenage kids and I came here after a beach day hoping to have a good burger when we walked in on an EXTREMELY MEAN AND RUDE WAITRESS—- yelling and screaming at a family for having two tables. Apparently this restaurant has a stupid rule where they will REFUSE service to any patrons if you have more than 7 in your party. This family was as nice as can be, even saying they are paying two checks. The waitress was yelling at them, told them to get up and go elsewhere and was not even ashamed that she was making a fool out of herself. The manager came out and treated this nice family even worse. He even told the family “if you don’t like our rules tough ——“ and put his finger in the customers face. My kids and I were absolutely appalled and other patrons had the look of disgust on their faces witnessing everything. Coming from the hospitality industry, I’ve never witnessed such rudeness to any customer. The family ended up leaving at no choice of their own. When the waitress approached us to seat us, she was as nice as can be and asked how many were in my party. I said 4. She said “come on in.” I proceeded to tell her forget it; that we will never give business to this establishment for treating people so mean. She then did a 360 and told us “you can leave then!” Please do not give this restaurant ANY business. Terrible treatment of people that management is condoning. No kindness whatsoever. If they have a policy of not serving more than 7, then fine. But there is a nicer way to...

What can I say about this place? This is the ultimate dive bar that you come to expect. This is my go to spot for good food for the price! Can’t find many places like this in the tourist areas. Where can you get get a full lbs of peel and eat shrimp for less than $10 dollars? The burgers are probably one of the biggest and best in the area!

It is a hit or miss with the service. Some of the bartenders are pretty rude so I don’t sit at the bar. Most of the servers are really great! They are always on top of refilling my drink before I even have to ask and they are on top of making sure you have everything you need. I wonder where do they get these energetic servers that are working hard in the hot summer heat?

I always order four to five entrees to go so I can eat it for the week. Yes it is a dive bar and people should not expect fine dining. If you are like me, I look for good food at a fair price then this place is the place to go!

The bad is that just know that there are no air conditioning as most of it is open to the outside. They do have very limited sitting. Expect a wait as it is not a large place. There are pretty rude locals that are very rude but you just ignore them. They up charge for tater tots? They don’t serve fries.
