Trio, Trio, TRIO! Come on! My parents and I have been regulars at the restaurant since you've been open. We love that you're our neighborhood hub, and ride or die! In fact I love Trio so much that I've spent many nights dining on my own, knowing that I'll know someone on the waitstaff serving on any particular night I choose to dine alone, and I won't feel so alone. Tonight was unacceptable. My parents got there before I did, around 6:50pm. I arrived at 7:10. They were seated at one of the tables on Trio's great patio. When I sat down, I was surprised to see my Mom didn't have a glass of wine in hand. She only ever has two, but they'd been seated for 20 minutes at this point. It took another few minutes for our server to come over and ask me if I'd like a glass of wine. I ordered, and we waited....and waited.... we were told that they were trying to find wine glasses because they were out. COME ON!!! This is the second time in the past month this has happened to me. Last time I was served wine in an obscure cocktail glass. Order more wine glasses... Then, it took us almost 90 minutes to get our food. My parents had already ordered their entrees before I'd arrived. I ordered when our server came to take my wine order. Now I know the service industry is completely taxed. I'm sensitive to it, and totally tip my servers very well. The unnerving thing was the entire patio got their food before we did, and most were sat after we were. We had two salads and the Trout entree for dinner. I'm extremely disappointed, and I think for the time being, we're going to find a different place to dine. Total time at dinner was over two hours. Also, the manager on duty, whom I am not familiar with, dropped our food at our table with no apology or no recognition of what had happened. Had it been the two managers I know well (thank you Zach and Glenn (and Lloyd on the side)) this might have gone over a bit more smoothly. I love Trio through and through, but this was not a good...
Read moreLet's say I was NOT very impressed. By the ratings of 4 stars and all the good reviews me and my sisters decided we were going to come in and have our sister dinner there. First, let me state that the restaurant was not very big which was okay nor was it fancy or upscale in any way. Second, the waitress we had was not very friendly. Third, their menu did not have much to offer. Fourth, their food was not very good. Out of 3 dinner dishes only 1 of them actually was any good. The waitress came to clean up the dinner dishes and asked if we wanted boxes to go because she seen that my dish was still FULL and my sisters was halfway, I politely told her we didn't want boxes and it was because the food wasn't very good. She asked me why and I told her that my sisters food was "very bland and had no taste to it" and "my dish I've never had carbonaro taste the way it did, overall all it just did not taste good." She stated "ohhhhh..." but did nothing to comp our dinner. That in it self threw me off a little. You would think since we spent almost $100 on dinner that they would atlease done something to keep customers happy so they might want to come back. Final last thing, their desert was delicious. (We got cheesecake, creme brulee, and pudding) No, complains or arguments there.
Now it all boils down, would we ever come back for their food, probably not. Would we come back for wine and desert?? Maybe... it is a possibility.
Sorry, I do not want to sound like a negative Nancy and I don't usually do reviews on places very often but I thought people might want to hear our experience that we recieved while there. So in my opinion, if I had to pick buca de bepo or even olive garden over this place then I would have to say yes. Price is competition but the level of food is not.
Thanks for reading, hope...
Read moreWent to Trio 2 nights ago, and it was good, but not quite as excellent as I remembered. First of all, the cocktail I had, the Mountain Mule, was delicious! The combo of peach vodka and ginger beer was even tastier than I expected. I ordered rosemary flatbread to start, and here again I was not disappointed. The bread was warm and chewy, and the combo of balsamic, onions, and goat cheese was divine! However, I found my options lacking for entrees. The only vegetarian option was spaghetti al pomodoro ... not something I would ever order out. I got two small plates instead. The mushroom polenta was also very tasty, with cheese and a smokey tomato sauce. Honestly, I would have loved a full-sized one for my entree. I also ordered maple-glazed carrots, which showed up as a plate filled with over 20 heirloom carrots! I liked the idea here, but most of the carrots were so crunchy that I had trouble spearing them with my fork, and some of them even still had some gravel in the tiny tuft of greens left at the top. I would be willing to overlook this and give 5 stars anyway, but my boyfriend was pretty disappointed about his carbonara dish, and my friend said her shrimp Alfredo was "ok." All in all, the food was pretty good, but I expect a little bit better for the money. The ambiance was very nice, and our server was super friendly and helpful! Overall, again, I had a good experience, but the food just needs a few improvements. Oh, and the crème brûlée was FANTASTIC! 10/10 would eat again. Any...
