Ex wifes has been a classic for a very long time, not everyone’s vibe but my friends and I have always enjoyed the pool and the drinks. The lady bouncer(Jamie I believe) is always a grump but never has been an issue before. Maybe she’s the x wife? Super unwelcoming all together, but her demeanor is beside the point. Tonight, a friend of ours (22F) was denied entry. In Jamie’s defense, she stands 4’11’’ but still presented a valid drivers license. One can understand Jamie’s skepticism, sure, but a valid id is a valid id all the same. I get businesses have the right to choose who they serve, but one could only assume she was denied entry on account of her height. As good friends would, we decided to not bring our business there due to Jamie’s obtuseness. While we were standing outside deciding where we would go instead, I recognized 2 other friends we went to school with who were not of age be allowed in. A shame the thoroughness was present to my friend who brought her VALID id and was rudely turned away because she just didn’t “trust it” despite it scanning, but was absent to the minors who got in with no problem. Many such cases though IYKYK. Lost some loyalty tonight over what seemed to be a power trip.
Edit: her 22nd is in 4 days, I stand corrected. Though last time I checked 21 is still of age. Additionally, there is no slander on Jamie, just an honest review in my many experiences in coming to your bar. She is consistently a cold person, I’m just letting future potential customers know what to expect. You say “McKenna is 21 not 22” so help me understand why she was denied entry🤔 Also, her ID did scan, we all saw it scan, don’t try and gaslight others, Jamie flat out said she just didn’t trust it. Additionally, it’s not my job to scan id’s not secure an establishment that is 21+. Don’t...
Read moreFor being all metal and punk rock it’s pretty snobby and hipster. The bartender was harassing everyone about wearing a mask when standing up but then goes around hugging all his friends. Nothing really “no nonsense” about this other than their virtue signaling bartender yelling at patrons between sips to slide there mask on…
Edit: I do not know the bartender the owner is talking about (probably a different night , same bad service) to this day this place rubs me the wrong way. This place is so bad a group of high schoolers can run an establishment better than this owner. Advice to the owner: read your reviews and run your bar better.
Edit2: the owner doesn’t even know which night I was in. It shows instead of just taking the L and fixing their problems they just want to make up the fact they even remembered when I was in. Like I said high schoolers take more accountability than these people. And actually I was sitting quietly by myself in the corner observing the bartender that was harassing everyone, then after going and hugging his friends acting like he didn’t just tell people to slip their mask off and on and treat people like garbage at the door.
look at the owners responses to every single complaint. They can never do anything wrong lol it’s always the customers fault. Don’t know how locals can support this bar when the owner takes no pride in creating a great establishment.
Look at the amount of people that go out of their way to say how bad this place is then “like” other bad reviews. This place will literally make you feel mad about having wasted money on drinks here cause of their terrible attitudes. And it’s not like a down to earth type of attitude but a spoiled child one. SLC deserves...
Read moreMany people on various online review sites malign the slow service of this bar and while I have experienced upwards of a 10 min wait time, that was mostly due to either me not aggressively making eye contact with the bartenders or, quite honestly, because I was a little drunk and they were letting me cool down.
Are there better bars? Yes. Are there better bars in the neighborhood?....well no. But this bar has 3 pool tables, a dart board, three pinball machines and frigging CORNHOLE in their spacious patio, not to mention some of the most open and friendly clientele I've met in SLC.
If anyone has ever described you as 'prissy': you will not like this bar. If you are a true, dyed in the wool bro: you will not like this bar. If you need your drinks served to you immediately in a pristine setting: you will not like this bar. If you are an open, friendly person, treat bartenders like human beings and don't mind a little grunge in your local bar: you may just find a place at X-Wives place.
P.S. Has some of the most eclectic jukebox selections you could imagine. While being thrown from Jay-Z to Johnny Cash and then over to Iron Maiden may sound horrific to some, to me it is...
