Meh. Pat's is still the SLC reigning bbq champion. So, we thought we would try Kaiser because it was an option on Food To You. Here's what we tried and our thoughts:
Ribs - my husband says they were seasoned well and succulent with plenty of meat. No sauce needed. Potato Salad - my husband says it has a well-balanced flavor between the potatoes and seasoning. Coleslaw - hubby says it was bland, he would never order again. Sauce - Pretty decent. My husband really likes the sauce. I think it has too much smoke flavor (and I REALLY like smoke flavor). Brisket - Really fatty, not very much meat, off flavor. Pulled Pork - husband says it was horrible, way too fatty. Not really pulled, just kind of a hunk of meat. Corn-on-the-cob - sadly, the best part of my meal. You can't really mess up corn-on-the-cob. Bread - it's sandwich bread, I was hoping when it mentioned bread with the meals it would be cornbread, because it's the best bread for bbq. It may be made in house though. Sausage - overcooked, dry, tasted like a dried pepperoni stick that you get from those bins at the gas station, overly, overly seasoned. Baked beans- the worst baked beans I have ever had, I couldn't eat more than 2 bites and I really like baked beans.
I would not eat their food again, especially when I can just get Pat's which is 5 minutes away. My husband said he would, but he would only order ribs and...
Read more2 stars only because the staff were friendly. Also, it was a cool eclectic little place. 1st it was a Saturday 2 hours prior to closing. So, I’ll chalk it up to the food being reheated. I had the 3 meat plate with 2 sides. Brisket, pulled pork, and jalepeno cheddar sausage. Greens and cole slaw. Brisket had a good smoke ring. But the meat was completely limp. Extremely white in the middle of the nice red smoke ring. Thin pieces. Lots of fat that had not rendered. Not much of a bark on the brisket. Bland not much taste. Could tell it had been reheated. Pulled pork was ok. Reheated as well. Not much taste. Had a good bake but not much taste. Bbq sauce should not be the source of taste on the meat. Jalapeño cheddar sausage. It had nice heat. Not real hot. But enough to taste the touch of heat. Weird texture. No snap on the sausage. Mustard greens had no taste. No pepper. No salt. No vinegar. Just plain Jane. Cole slaw was decent. Not to much mayo. Not dry. Not to moist. Crunchy. Not soggy. Pretty good. Maybe I caught them on a bad day. Maybe the cooked on Friday and we’re trying to get thru Saturday without cooking more meat. I don’t know. But as a Bbq’er I’m...
Read moreI’m torn on this rating a little bit. It should likely be 3 stars but I’m choosing 4 until I go again (this was delivered so just based on taste) The jalapeño popper was good and a little different, will get again. The stuffed bacon wrapped mushrooms were good as well. Some of the best house BBQ sauce I’ve ever had. I was surprised and it’s in the top 3 across this country. (I use sauce very sparingly I like the meat to stand on its own but this stuff is really thick, flavorful, and balanced)
The chilli needs something- onions, jalapeños, idk something but it’s decent. (Also they didn’t give me jalapeños after suggesting to ask for them, lol). And the ribs were sadly the biggest let down. I will say they give you what they promise they said 3-4 lbs and I got exactly 3.05 lbs but idk if they were off today but there’s no smoke, the texture is more roasted and there just isn’t much flavor whatsoever…. paired with the BBQ sauce it’s fine but it could be so much more.
I’m going to try it again some time but I’ll definitely pass...
