Our stay at this hotel was arguably one of the worst trips I've legitimately ever been on. Upon arrival, we were given a room with two queen beds which was disappointing because I had paid a higher rate for a king size. I first called to the front desk to see if we could switch to another room and the gentleman I spoke with said he would call me back in a few minutes. After 20 minutes without having heard back, I decided to go downstairs and it was apparent that they had forgotten about us entirely. I was then informed that unfortunately they did not have a king available, which I stated was fine, but because I had paid more for the larger bed, I requested a concession for our stay. The manager that I spoke with indicated that the general manager would be in the next day and would follow up with us by 1:00 PM.
The following day, after doing some exploring in SLC, the afternoon came and went without the manager ever having called. I had requested the previous evening that the GM either call or email me because we would likely be out. Upon returning, I stopped yet again by the front desk to inform them that the general manager never called us and I would like our concerns to be resolved.
After now having followed up with the staff three times regarding this issue, we were finally able to move into a room with the king size bed. It was then that we discovered how poorly the room had actually been cleaned or maintained. We found trash and previous guests belongings under the bed, a stack of what was likely stolen credit cards and evidence of identity theft under the microwave, and surfaces throughout the room that were very dirty. Even if we had been staying for longer than a couple of days, we wouldn't have been able to use the dresser or the side tables for their intended purposes because of how dirty they were. Given the slight smell, I would also guess that our bedding had not been recently washed. Even the bathroom was dirty with hair still stuck in the drain and a toilet that had not been cleaned.
And that is only the very start of what was quite honestly an incredibly frustrating and uncomfortable stay. The television in our rooms were barely watchable, as more than half of the channels had terrible reception. At one point, due to the poor selection and the fact that internet service provided restricted the use of our Chromecast, which we brought with us for the sole purpose of being able to stream movies or shows, we ended up settling for a movie on television that was barely watchable because the feed was so grainy.
And to top it all off, our hotel was right in the middle of a large homeless encampment not 20 ft from the entrance. We had to exercise caution just even trying to leave the area.
It is highly unlikely I will ever visit Salt Lake City again due to both how disappointing the city itself was and how wildly unprofessional, unacceptable, and unheard of stay our stay was at the...
Read moreWorst hotel! Don’t waste your money! I had a two night stay, which only stayed for one! When we got checked in the person was super friendly our first room, was the outside rooms connected to hotel. The door was super hard to open and shut but doing a more exam of the room, all the dirt was swept into the closet. Drawers were broke. Phone wasn't even plug in to wall to call front desk.. so I asked kindly if I could have a different room, clerk was understanding, got a new room the room entering there was some pill on the floor (looking it up it was for someone to stop addiction) not to happy since I had my 10 yr old with me, the beds weren't even made, the plate in the microwave was dirty, to top it off there was some blue stain on toilet paper! So I kindly asked the clerk to come to the room so he knew I wasn't making things up. He said let's change you rooms. The Tired room it was okay, much cleaner then other rooms. So since it was late coming from Montana I said I will take it. Well I asked to speak to manager and he basically avoided me all day. I kept asking if he was there and kept getting told no he wasn't. I finally caught him at front desk and he was rude from the start. I was nice and just kindly wanted to tell him what is around his hotel he basically didn't want to hear it. With him being rude I asked to get my money back for the horrible time. He said his manager told him I could only have one night back and not both. I asked why? He stated that he can only do one. Since I booked third party I got on the phone with my booking party, told them what was going on and got my money back for the second night stay and basically transfered that money towards a new room! I will never go back and I continue to tell family and friends if going to Salt Lake to stay completely away...
Read moreExtremely Disappointing Experience
I had one of the worst hotel experiences at this property. From the moment I arrived, the entire hotel reeked of marijuana, cigarette smoke, and incense. Unfortunately, the smell was even worse in my room. Turning on the heater only intensified the awful odor, making it unbearable to stay in the space.
The room itself was poorly maintained. The walls were so thin that I could hear every sound from the adjacent rooms, including extremely uncomfortable noises of other guests engaging in intimate activities at night, making it very difficult to sleep. The electrical installations were in precarious condition, and the carpet had multiple tears. To make matters worse, there was visible mold on the bathroom ceiling, which is absolutely unacceptable for any hotel.
The bedding was also a disaster. The sheets had a bad odor and caused skin irritation after a while, and the towels provided were in terrible condition, with some even torn.
Adding to the disappointment, the hotel promised breakfast, but it was horrendous. There were almost no options available, and what little food there was seemed poorly maintained and unappetizing. It was clear that no effort was made to provide a decent meal for guests.
Customer service was shockingly inattentive and showed no concern for the guests’ needs. To top it off, they did not refund part of the deposit charged upon check-in. When questioned, they claimed it was a municipal tax, which had never been mentioned at check-in and wasn’t charged to a colleague who stayed during the same period.
This hotel was a complete letdown, and I cannot recommend it to anyone. Avoid it...
