Don’t skip on: Ca Phe and Mussels
First time trying out The Pearl, and I’m so glad we did! Their menu has grown much more since they opened and I’m glad we were able to get a table as a walk in. The staff was very kind and welcoming and the restaurant was clean.
We ordered a few dishes to share as a table:
Wings - Fish Sauce and Thai Peanut - what a great deal on a Wednesday! They had $6 wings (6 pieces) and they came out so crunchy and fresh.
Banh Mi - $16- Lemongrass Pork with all the fixings. My only complaint is that they didn’t have patê, but it was still a very flavorful sandwich
Blue Mussels and Toast- $32 - I’m pretty sure they put something magical in the sauce. It was SO incredibly delicious! The mussels come with toast and I ended up dipping everything I could in it, including the shrimp chips that came with the banh mi.
Grilled Lemongrass Pork- $28 - I always hesitate when it comes to whole pork chops, restaurants never seem to get it right, but the Pearl did fantastic. The pork chop had lovely grill marks and you can smell the char, and the meat was moist and tender ✅✅✅. Lastly, the relish that it came with was… different, but it really surprised me how good it ended up tasting!
Vermicelli Bowl - standard, but good. Probably wouldn’t order again for $17
Ca Phe - $14 - I LOVE Vietnamese coffee and this cocktail made me love it even more! A bit on the high end for a cocktail, but it was delicious!
Pear Bear - $12 - the perfect drink for summer! Light and crisp!
We also had mocktails at our table - no idea what they were since it was Bartender’s choice, but they were good!
Would definitely go back again to try other items. Highly...
Read morewow! what an interesting little delight this establishment is. After showing a very handsome cowboy my ID, i noticed there were some medium looking men playing some sort of musical instruments in the area. Very loud! They were playing in a mew style which no one was enjoying so I took the liberty of telling these fellas to play a song we can all enjoy such as The Star Spangled Banner (an American classic) or my favorite song of late - Ed Sheeran shape of you! Ed Sheehan is a new artist that is making waves, I first heard this wonderful song when I was stealing buttons from the shirts at savers on 72nd (will be writing a review for that later) and I just wagged my finger to this novel sound! I plan on stopping by the library on the way back to my apartment in Tooele and hopefully they'll have some light reading so I can learn more about the talented Ed Sheeran. I normally like to keep my private life away from ny reviews but I went ahead and wrote my phone number in the men's room at this place so please feel free to reach out for a serious conversation between adults about the arts!
I didn't get a chance to order any food, so I won't comment on it very much but some nice, very beautiful people left some uneaten food which I of course helped myself to a bite of once they had stood up from their chairs. I did make sure they could see me - I believe in the honor system and I don't like to pull fast ones on people. I'm really honest to a fault. I also really enjoyed that the chairs were still warm from those people standing up...
Read moreThis place is 10/10! The food is incredible. The menu is simple but elevated. The prices are reasonable. The service is attentive and timely. Okkk now let’s get to the good stuff - what should you order? If you order nothing but the ube pancakes, you could be happy for the rest of the day. These pancakes are fluffy and the passionfruit cream between them is to dieeee for. I’d personally come back just for the pancakes!!! We also ordered the Vegan Bahn Mi, a side of bok choy and avocado toast with a side of potatoes. Everything was seriously incredible - flavour profiles were well balanced. While there was a slightly spicy sauce on the eggs, it was more tangy than spicy and paired perfectly with the eggs. The Vietnamese coffee was made perfectly - not too sweet and had a hint of bitterness from the coffee so you know it’s the goood stuff.
I don’t drink so while I can’t vouch for the alcoholic drinks, I did see a lot of people order them as well!
The ambiance and decor are also awesome.
Parking: there are lots of 2h parking spots for free around the corner and across the street as well. I went on a Sunday so it didn’t seem like the 2h rule was super enforced but take this advice on your own discretion! I am sure weekdays are...
