I visited the Hard Rock Cafe at around 8:30 PM with my teenage children to have some drinks and appetizers. The staff on the ground floor told us that since we were a party of five, we could only sit outside, and if we wanted to dine inside, we would have to wait for 30 minutes. The first floor was completely empty. Is it forbidden for customers to sit on the first floor?Since it was too hot outside, we went to the entrance of the Hard Rock Cafe near Riverwalk. They also told us that we could only sit outside. The area they guided us to had no ceiling fans, and it was unbearably hot. We asked to be moved to a table with a fan and switched tables ourselves. None of the staff helped us move. The empty 4-person and 6-person tables inside remained vacant until we finished our meal. Are 4-person and 6-person tables forbidden for parties of five? I couldn't understand the reasoning. The server assigned to us seemed half out of it. We had to ask for straws because none of our drinks came with any, and they only brought four straws when we were a party of five. When it came time to pay, the server left just the receipt on the table. It was so hot that we wanted to leave quickly, so I gave my card and the receipt to another staff member. They took my card and went looking for our server. The staff seemed completely out of it, as if they were suffering from heat exhaustion. This was the worst Hard Rock Cafe experience I've had worldwide. Do not come here. The service is extremely frustrating. The server left the menus on our table after taking our order, and when they served the drinks, they turned to leave without taking the menus. We had to ask them to remove the menus, and they finally did. Our server, a male, seemed more interested in chatting with other staff members than in doing his job. The female staff members serving the Riverwalk side were also busy chatting and laughing among themselves, ignoring customers until called multiple times.I have 20 years of experience as an airline flight attendant, and this was the worst service I have ever experienced at a restaurant. Everything seemed disorganized, and the inattentive servers and chaotic reception staff were ruining the business. I left only a 10% tip, even though I didn't want to leave any tip at all. It was an infuriating visit. I really don't want to say this, but I felt like we were discriminated against because of our race, and that makes me even more upset. When we asked the kids what time it was when we visited, they told us it was around 9:50 PM.I am extremely disappointed. Read moreI am very disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. My parents and myself are all over the age of 21 while my little sister is 20. My mother was going to order my sister an alcoholic drink as the Texas law permits a minor consuming an alcoholic beverage if it’s with the parent. The waitress told us that the restaurant has their own policy and does not allow this, and we all understood and ordered drinks except for my little sister. Once our drinks and food were served at the table, a manager came by telling us that we had a question about this policy; to clarify, we did not have a question or problem with their policy. The manager explained their policy again to us, and the whole table understood as we had no issues with it to begin with, but we understand he is following up and doing his job. As we were eating, we saw our waitress speaking with what looked like a second manager who then came to our table and explained their policy AGAIN and practically accused my sister drinking the alcohol on our table when she most certainly did not and told us all our drinks would be taken away. At this point, it felt like our dinner experience was ruined after this accusation and being watched carefully all night. There were many cameras pointed at our table and I encourage them to go back and watch. I have lived in San Antonio my whole life along with the rest of my family and we love coming downtown on the weekends to have fun. I have never once felt so targeted as my father could see the waitress and second manager staring at our table watching our every move and making us uncomfortable. I believe our waitress could tell we were upset after the accusation as she avoided our table for the rest of our dining and did not want to service us. We understand the restaurant has a policy to follow and as customers we never once questioned, complained, or challenged this policy. The restaurant staff caused a whole scene that was definitely unnecessary. My family is very polite and kind and we will never make a scene, so to get the whole table upset is definitely saying a lot about this dinning experience, and it’s safe to say we will be avoiding this place...
Read moreNot worth it. My family and I were vacationing at the Riverwalk. When we decided to have dinner before seeing all the lights for Christmas, the Hard Rock Cafe was available and near and she like a good place to stop. There were not many people inside which made getting a table easy. The kids are typical kids menu items. My wife had a flat bread and I had a burger. We should’ve known it was not going to go well when we ordered drinks and they did not have simple lemonade. They were able to accommodate lemonade for the kids my offering strawberry lemonade from the bar however, for some reason, the bartender could not put the strawberry lemonade into the kids cups nor put the strawberry in to lemonade. I had one of their seasonal drinks and it was strong and over done making it terribleterrible. When it came time to order the waiter, took down everyone’s but ignored my request and didn’t even ask if I want anything. We were able to correct the situation. When the food came out, my wife’s and one child came out the waitress that brought it said she’d be right back with the rest. She came back with some type of ice cream and walked straight outside to the patio. It took a short while for our waiter to check on us and find out that we did not receive the other two meals. When they did arrive, none of the food was spectacular, but was good. With all the choices at the Riverwalk, I would suggest trying someplace that is not as well known and to add on, we asked for a spoon from one of the other waitresses who proceeded to never come back with this moon or tell anyone that...
