Okay... so NOT an great experience was had. It started well. Props to all the other staff that seemed kind and curteous and were attentive. So, the good portion: The staff that greeted my party was very polite and friendly. Our particular Waiter was extremely rude, unattentive to all customers, not even just my table - so there is that. He was an older "gentlemen" with black short but longer length hair ( table just passed the restrooms ). He didn't want to refill drinks. He didn't seem like he wanted to be bothered at all. He was rude in action and in deed, I legit don't know why. We were polite to him. He was just...I don't know what exactly he was on about, to be honest. At one point, he saw I was trying to taste my sister's chicken fried streak, but he had just taken my silverware when he went took away my plate ( with my sides, btw I just didnt want the pork chops, at that time, he also never brought back a menu, so I don't know what I was supposed to order anyway? even after "the manager approved of the switch.") Then, he simply brought our ticket to us - like get out.. the place wasn't even busy? Empty tables all over the place. But hold on there is more! At the end of our visit, which at one point we WERE going to check out the desert menu. He stood over us as we paid for the meal. And stood. And stood. He was being so weird. I was busy getting my jacket, but still thought dude was being weird. Then, he comes back and says to my sister very loudly: WHAT NO TIP? This dude... she had his tip in her hand. We both looked at each other and said: "no. not now." ( He would have gotten something, but he blew it completely... but Wait There's More ). He used profanity and told us to never come back, then stormed off. This whole dude... Just wow. Employee of the month? Probably, nah... But he is correct... I will never be visiting this place again. It was sad too, because the other employees seemed annoyed to be working with this dude, also. This was my first time coming here and will definately be my last. I'd say pass it up, if there is anything else open, which since it's on the riverwalk - there always is! But I will leave my whole review on the food and bathrooms. Overall cleanliness: Good. Bathrooms: Clean. >>> Now, on to the Food <<< I ordered a Grilled Porked Plate. The food "looked" delicious until I took a bite. The pork was like cardboard. Very unappealing in taste, as well. I asked to send it back, but the waiter had to ask the manager if that was okay to do, which honestly confused me. The manager apparently allowed it... but I never recieved a menu lol? so... also I cant say if the green beans or mac n cheese are good because I was never given the opportunity to try them. So... there is also that. My sister ordered the Davy Crocket Chicken Fried Steak she said it was good. While we were waiting to see "what the manager had to say" I tried it. It was tender but kinda oily to me, but that can just be a taste preference thing. The appetizers: Great! This was the best thing during the entire experience. I had the jalapeño stuffed poppers. First one didn't taste quite right, but after that they were all good. My sister had the BIG marble fried mushrooms. These things were delicious and huge and came out very hot and fresh. Drinks were drinks, just don't expect refills if you get my same waiter. This place was definately "an experience." Can't say it was a good one... but there you have it all.

I wish I could say I loved this place, but I was pretty disappointed. I came wanting some authentic Texas food, so I ordered the platter that had brisket, chicken and sausage. I did ask if I could only have brisket, but they said they couldn’t make any substitutes. That was fine. I ordered the platter as it came. It came with two sides, I ordered potato salad and asked what the vegetable of the day was. The server said that she thinks it was green beans, and I said green beans are fine if that’s what the side is. When the meal came, there was only one side and it was mixed vegetables, which were obviously out of a bag of frozen vegetables like you see in a grocery store. There were no green beans in the mixed vegetables. The server just said “oh I guess they were mixed vegetables and not green beans” but didn’t offer to replace them. She also didn’t bring out my other side of potato salad until I asked for it. Those things aren’t a huge deal, but I was so disappointed in the meat. You can tell by looking at the brisket that it’s flavorless and not cooked well. In other pictures I’ve seen from this restaurant you could see a beautiful pink smoke ring, and some bark, but this brisket did not have either of those things. In fact, I couldn’t see any seasoning on the outside of it at all. The chicken was similarly flavorless, and dry to boot. The sausage was not bad, but not worth it. The best part of this entire meal was the patron margarita I had, which was delicious. I did bring my concerns to the server who talked to the manager, and they did end up, taking off the food from my bill, which I appreciated. The view was also nice from the balcony. I definitely would not recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for an authentic Texas meal, or really any meal at all.

Wanted a 5 star review for this place, but it turns out it's less than one star for everything that has happened. 3 of us went to eat there. The and the server, when one ordered mashed potatoes deliberately up charged her for loaded mashed potatoes without even asking putting it on the receipt for a higher ticket price. Then when she ordered a Margarita, they gave her an extra charge of top shelf alcohol without asking her Made her bill extremely high for a single lady. This waiter was not very nice. Stayed at the bar Stayed on his phone wasn't around. Talking about the restaurant to help the restaurant out. And worst of all, the service was extremely poor considering he did not come back when my wife needed bread for what she ordered and she would have ordered bread. When the brisket was ordered, there was probably larger than a deck of cards, size piece of fat that was served as meat being that. We want to eat meat when we order brisket and not a slab of fat cut that was not good as well. Chicken fried steak was good and the burger was good but the burger that I ate. They slipped in some extra stuff on sides when I only wanted the burger and charge 4 sides. I.e. guacamole, etc. I found it very sad to go to one of the restaurants on a Riverwalk and get a service like this. Where they take advantage of pedestrians walking up-and-down, pulling them in to eat at their location, then come to find out they're trying to pull every penny out of you by up charging nickel and diamond you for things that you didn't want or Or ask for? I don't think I would ever go to this place again.Due to the service that it had in the past and in knowing that fat is served as brisket, wasn't good. And I really was looking forward to giving this place a good rating

Okay... so NOT an great experience was had.

It started well. Props to all the other staff that seemed kind and curteous and were attentive.

Lone Star Cafe, we entered it street level nobody was there to greet us? I grabbed some silverware and menus and walk in past the bar, I found a table overlooking the Riverwalk this fight the buzzing flies and bees and I asked if the fan could be turned on? I was told I would have to stand on the table pull the cord and turn on the fan myself? A waiter on duty decided to help us and I ordered immediately so I wouldn't have to wait any longer? The other server that was supposed to be waiting on my station was at the waitresses entry at the bar on the side? My waiter had to leave get it going off shift so a lady decided to help me she was extremely helpful even though I had to reorder the french fries that were all soggy I made a suggestion next time that the chicken fried steak be lightly battered instead of four five coats of breading which broke off and flaked away as soon as you cut into the chicken fried steak? The cream gravy was excellent could use a little bit more Cracked Pepper in it? I ordered some hot tea, and a glass of warm water, typically they'll serve you a glass of ice water which most people want, but I'm trying to dissolve any oils and fat that I consume from the food so that's why I drink hot tea and warm water, bottom line there is room for improvements it's been since 2016 shut up previously hey there I know there was a lot that happened and they closed during the pandemic but I think the customer service and who's ever waiting at the front there should be somebody there instead of telling me they don't show up until 5:00 p.m.? 11:00 is typical lunch hour therefore there should be somebody watching out forgets at the front especially handicap! All in all the food was good but there could be some refinements and a little bit better service Highly suggest that you customize your order if you want your chicken fried steak I'm done normal make sure it's not overcooked where the breading is hard and falling off the meat? Order it medium and not over...

If there were an option for negative stars this place would earn them. We dropped in for a quick lunch. After being seated, we were entirely ignored for roughly 10 minutes as servers all stood around mere feet from our table gossiping and chatting. Eventually one of the servers gossiping yelled back to the kitchen, “Hey Penelope you’ve got people out here waiting.” Eventually Penelope appeared. She didn’t seem pleased to be out taking our order, but we did manage to get an order placed. It took forever for food to come out, despite the cafe being nearly empty (which probably should have been the first clue to stay away). Our order included two burgers, fries with one burger and onion rings with the other. The food was ok, but nothing to write home about. However, as my companion was drinking her beverage we noticed an anomaly with the drink. It looked as though someone had spit in the drink or otherwise tampered with it. Of course, our server was once again nowhere to be found. We decided it was time to settle the check and get out of this establishment. Eventually I stood up and wandered around the place hoping to get someone who could give me our bill. Apparently seeing me wander around, Penelope did come over. I informed her we were ready to pay and leave. Rather than providing me a bill, she rattled off a total from the screen of her handheld ordering device. I explained to Penelope that I wanted a printed ticket. She huffed and walked away, although she did return with a ticket. The total bill? $60 for the burgers, sides, and the tampered-with drink. Unbelievable! No apology for the terrible service, and no offer to remedy the spit-in drink. There are lots of great dining options in the area. This is not one of them. A good place to steer clear of. If you do roll the dice and venture inside, check your drinks and food carefully or you might become the next victim of spitting waitstaff (or whatever was in...
