I was treated extremely poorly by the manager on shift today. I visited for the first time yesterday after hearing my coworkers rave about the wings. My experience yesterday with the employees was great. Today I went in to order wings and fries before work. I really enjoyed the wings yesterday so I returned today. When I walked in there was no one around to take my order. I was searching for an employee and at first I was saying hello in a low tone in hopes someone would come out. I then saw an employee cleaning a table so I went over and told him I was looking for someone to take my to go order. He said the bartender will take my order. I explained to him that there isn’t anyone at the bar. I thought he would tell someone that there was a customer waiting. He didn’t. So I said hello loudly a few times thinking someone would realize there is a customer there waiting. The manager came out and immediately scolded me. He asked why I was screaming. I told him I said hello loudly because I was trying to get the attention of an employee thinking that maybe they weren’t aware someone walked in. He said they were busy and that I could leave. I said sir I am really hungry and really wanted to order food to take to work. He said he wasn’t doing it and I could leave. I resorted to begging him as I didn’t have time to go somewhere else and my sugar was dropping. I explained to him that my intention was not to be rude at all, I was simply trying to get the attention of an employee. He refused several times and then gave in after I begged several times. I apologized and told him I didn’t intend any harm. He took my order and I paid him. Before my food came out I saw him again and I said I really appreciate him putting in my order and that I was sorry again. He completely ignored me and walked away as I was speaking to him. I felt so embarrassed and began to cry. I couldn’t understand why he was being so mean to me. I was wearing hijab and I felt like maybe that was a problem. I don’t know for sure that he had a problem with me being a Muslim but nothing made sense. I wasn’t rude to anyone at the restaurant. I left humiliated and in tears. I am new to wearing hijab and I felt very uncomfortable. His anger towards me was a bit much. I love the wings but the way he treated me made me...
Read moreA female server (shorter & heavy built, Marie is her name) had a very nasty attitude with us. We asked for water for our dog (they gave water to other dogs so we knew it was okay). She looked at us rudely, walked away & never came out. Another waiter (a male, Joey) came out with water & was very apologetic. We ended up leaving.
On our way back, we see the nice waiter (Joey) who continued to be apologetic to us. We decided to order wings. There's another couple outside (near us) with two dogs eating their meal. We order our wings & the same female waiter comes out with attitude telling us we can't have our outside cups on the table. We tell her it's fine, we'll move, but the other guy said it's OK & she needs to be better about how she speaks to customers. She continued to be rude so I finally went off on her.
Asked to speak to the manager, she said there is none. I go inside & explain to a gentleman behind the bar (he said he's a manager) how she's been excessively rude. She comes in behind me, being rude & lying saying that we're upset because she told us we can't have cups on the table. Then she pushed me from behind to get to the register & claimed she was trying to get to the register. I told her she needs to say excuse & if she touches me again, I will defend myself. She continued being rude. Another guy comes & I explain my frustration. Thankfully she stayed quiet this time. I informed him they're going to lose customers because of how rude she is. She went out of her way to be rude & make sure we knew we were not welcomed there.
We get on a Go Rio boat & announce that we do not recommend this restaurant because that server (Marie) is super rude. The Go Rio boat driver shared that I'm right because she had a similar experience. She went in with her coworker and had a similar experience with Marie going out of her way being rude, ignoring them, etc. Similar to my experience.
Marie feeling that comfortable to be so blatantly rude to customers & no one said or did anything. Bad business practice. I don't recommend this place. However, Joey really made up for her unprofessionalism. Thank you Joey. They need to fire Marie. She's disgusting...
Read moreWent to Waxy O'Connor's Irish Pub on the San Antonio Riverwalk over the weekend and it was horrible. So much for spontaneous decisions! My lady friend and I were recommended to go there because they are dog friendly, so they'd give us some water for him as we ventured further from my vehicle than we initially planned. The female server, Marie, gave my friend and I attitude for just asking for water for my dog. Eventually ignoring us and going inside, another server, Joey(?), came out to ask what we needed and immediately went to the stand that Marie was first at, to get a dog dish and put some water in it for my buddy.
My friend asked if they had what she was looking for and he told us that they didn't serve it there but some of the other establishments do/might. We left and came back to catch our ride and decided to get something from Waxy's since Joey was so helpful, but Marie came back outside and started in with us about petty things that we were told by her coworker that was fine. When asked she lied and said that this was against the law and that. All the while my dog was being barked at by the other customers' dogs and he just sat there looking at them (trained), our cups that she made a big deal about was taken off of the table, etc. She had NO REASON to give us problems but went out of her way to do so.
Finally tired of her sh*t, my friend asked to speak with the manager. Again, she lied and said that there wasn't a manager. She went inside anyway and spoke to him while Joey continued to apologize and smooth over the situation with me. We canceled our order and left.
In talking about this on the boat, we discovered that the boat driver has had similar run-ins with Marie and looking at other reviews, this is prevalent! She must be a part of the owner's family, or the entire establishment is like her to continue to get these terrible reviews (IMO). Looking at other reviews and thinking back, it seems that the complaints don't come from a certain demographic as much. Hey, what do I know? I'm just a minority Veteran that makes decent money that still gets treated this way in 2023.
No! That last statement is not a conclusion that I...
