The welcoming is very poor by the security/hosts, I went there very excited since it was my first time getting to know the spot, and I do have to mention it, it disappointed me in the most important part which is the drinks, leaving aside the welcoming, I went directly to the bar and asked for a Boulevardier which is a classic cocktail and the bartender said he didn't know it (Boulevardier: same as Negroni but Gin replaced by Bourbon, that's all) and he did have Bourbon, right up front disappointed 😔, then just went with a Negroni, didn't want to tell him that he actually could do it, had my Negroni then I said to myself hey it's my first time here and I wanna ' drink what I want and if it's available why not, so went again to the bar and asked for a Boulevardier and I explained how to make it, another bartender there poured like half the cup with Bourbon and I immediately told him hey it's not just Bourbon it's basically a Negroni, and I saw he poured Campari but just a splash of Vermouth, Well I do have to mention I'm a professional bartender and I know the measures, and I told him: hey could you please add more vermouth? and he pretended he didn't listen 😮 and immediately was already attending another customer, that was rude, so I patiently waited until he made a Margarita for the other guy there, (by the way was also not well made) and when he finished, there was another guy waiting and looked at him and I was like whoa that's also rude, and the other guy pointed at me like telling the bartender I was there first, so I told him hey I noticed you just added a splash of Vermouth could you compensate it with a little bit more, and he said: " I'll have to charge you bro" and the bro part a little bit marked since I was calling him bro in a chill way but he said it like that (you know what I mean) and I didn't mind but did notice it, and I said ok how much ? He said 2 bucks, and the drink was already $17.50 oh by the way my first Negroni was $15 and he used Beefeater on it and on the Boulevardier he used Bulleit Bourbon so I also noticed why the price difference since Bulleit is around the same price as Beefeater? 🤔, but I didn't want to complain so I paid the extra 2 dollars so now a $19.50 drink which was done incorrectly by the bartender, (first bartender said he didn't know how to make it, second bartender is the one who did everything wrong so it's not just one, night personnel) so he added a splash of Vermouth not even with a jigger he just poured it he gave me like an ounce so now the drink was already super bad balanced 😕 and that's not the worst, when he poured it he didn't stir it haha 😆, he just left me there so that's when I got annoyed and immediately told him hey could you stir it, he misunderstood and said a syrup? and I replied noooo could you stir it? and he just put a stirrer straw in my cup, and that was SUPER RUDE maybe he didn't know he's the one supposed to stir it, but that was really rude at least coming from my experience with hospitality and since it's a Marriot hotel I thought I would find trained personnel and quality but not even close, you guys need to work on training your people in a lot of ways, the view of the city 🏙️ and the stadium at night was cool but not so worth it with the...
Read moreDO NOT PLAN AN EVENT HERE!!! I have done events at several different bars and this was the absolute WORST experience. I was very sad because the location itself was amazing but I will never go back and my guests all felt the same. I planned my birthday party here and it started a few weeks prior to my event when some bar manager Brandon quoted me $5000 LESS than what the rate really was for my party. AFTER i booked, I received an email from another manager Kenley saying "oops" and they couldn't accommodate me unless I paid $5000.00 more. After trying to work with me (which they didn't offer me anything other than booking something at the same rate any one else would get) we got there and the waitress allowed us to choose the VIP section we wanted. Until Kenley came and kicked us out of that section VERY RUDELY instead of telling us there was ANOTHER mistake. He was EXTREMELY rude to us the entire time from the moment we got there and the way he spoke to the waitresses made me feel awful for them! Then we had strangers sitting in our section, which we kept asking them to leave. Next thing you know we have 4 bouncers and that same manager yelling in my guests face and accusing us of bringing in a bottle of crown royal WHEN WE HAD AN OPEN $800 BAR TAB clearly paying for drinks and not one of us in the party was drinking crown royal!!! It was completely humiliating! One of my guests had to take the blame for it and leave just so my party didn't get kicked out. I will never step foot back there again. The staff needs to learn how to treat people and get rid of the...
Read moreAnytime I have any friend in town that wants to check out places that aren't too touristy, I take them to Altitude Sky Lounge.
It is HANDS DOWN the best view of all of San Diego. If you're not too big on baseball during the season you can take periodic glances at the game because you can see directly int Petco Park.
I also love that it's a nice place to relax and drink with friends but you don't have to be all dressed up to go. There is an indoor lounge with a TV and a fireplace that people tend to congregate around. There is plenty of space to have your own space and view.
If you get hungry, you can also get some food from the hotel delivered up to you. The weekends they typically have a DJ but it is by no means a club. 100% lounge and chat feel. When it is busy they have multiple bars open. Slower nights they have the one bar with a beautiful waterfall backdrop.
This place presents several opportunities to take photos whether you are a social media influencer or just want a nice picture of you and your significant other! HIGHLY recommend! Definitely bring a jacket or light sweater though as it can be breezy since you're near the water and high up...
