We came to Elixir looking for a coffee shop to get some studying down in a relaxing environment. Upon entry, Elixir in La Jolla has 4 small tables and one longer table. If you are by yourself, the single tables should be fine for one laptop and a small notebook. For two or more people trying to study, though, the longer table is necessary.
We ordered the house drip coffee with a splash of almond milk and an iced latte. Both were delicious and went great with the mid-60s weather. We re-ordered these for the second half of our stay.
The employees were nice and let us stay for awhile without making us feel awkward. It wasn't very crowded so that might have played into it.
The location is a bit hidden away, so the views weren't great. And some of the ledges were dusty and dirty. Bathrooms are not in the unit so you need to visit a shared bathroom that is part of the marketplace.
Overall, a good experience and is a good place to spend an hour or two. I wouldn't recommend this place for a date nor to being your grandmother, but the coffee is good which is the most...

Our outing was pleasant and relaxing. The visiting crowd was a good amount of traffic flow going in and out of the shop. Plenty of seating area. The outdoor area was nicely decorated with a Christmas tree in the center of the courtyard, a beautiful view to enjoy while hanging out for breakfast and having a hot cup of coffee.
01-07-2023 Ordered: -Oatmeal Mocha (don’t remember the price)— first time having oatmeal milk. Going forward will order my hot drink with oatmeal milk, really enjoyed it! -Chicken-Pesto Crepe $10.95 — simple but very fulfilling. Crepe combined with spinach, chicken breast and mozzarella cheese were a perfect combo.

Read moreLovely. Nice atmosphere, great coffee. Plenty of seating. Located in a fun walking area with lots of shops and places to eat, although they have wonderful, simple food choices like flatbreads and breakfast foods. I wish we'd eaten there over where we did. The espresso con panna was a lovely shot, the raspberry white mocha was to die for and the caffe latte was delicious. The screaming goat (I think that's what their signature espresso is called) is just really, really good espresso...and they sell that in bags as well. Parking was a bit challenging, but just be patient. :) We...
