Saw the cute pictures on Yelp and had to come by and see how it was. We stopped by with our dogs after hitting the dog beach since we saw other reviews mention dogs - we were a little worried because we saw a sign on the front that said only service dogs allowed, but the servers said they're allowed in the patio in the back. The patio is super cute and we were so grateful they let our dogs come in and gave them water! Our server was super attentive and nice. It wasn't crowded at all for a Saturday lunch. We knew coming in that the cute buns might be more for the aesthetic than the taste, but the pork buns were really disappointing. They were obviously not fresh since the inside was low-key still frozen, and even if it wasn't still cold to the touch, the filling was pretty bland. The puppy custard buns were a lot better and heated all the way through, but for almost $9, we expected more. Our server noticed that we didn't touch the pork buns and comped it right away when we told him it was still cold, which we're grateful for! 1/5 for pork bun, 4/5 for puppy bun. The fat duck ramen was decent - the noodles and veggie had great texture and flavor, but the duck chashu was over cooked and bland - 3.5/5 California roll was solid - 4/5 The baked red dragon was unlike other baked salmon rolls I have ever tried before. The salmon topping was chopped super finely, almost the same texture as the imitation crab, which I personally didn't like - 2/5 All in all, the dishes are presented really well and make for some good pictures, and the service is great. Unfortunately, the food this time for our visit was...
Read moreI’m confused by this restaurant! I visited for the first time in a group of four last night. We ordered 2 ramens and 2 poke bowls and we arrived before the dinner rush. My parter ordered the namesake ramen, which was super tasty if not a slightly small on the portion size. our poke arrived about 30 minutes after our ramen. Our server Alex, although he was friendly when he took our order, did not say anything to us while we were waiting and did not acknowledge how long the poke was taking. We made eye contact a few times, after which he avoided our table until the poke was ready. When our food finally arrived, he proceeded to pretend nothing happened even though two out of the four of our group had already finished eating. As a former server for about a decade, my expectation was that our server either comp something from our bill, perhaps offer us a free dessert bun, or at minimum, acknowledge the wait and apologize. Although the food was certainly good, the service really left us with a negative impression. Mistakes definitely happen of course, but the way it was handled (or in our case ignored) would have made all...
Read moreI had high hope for this location since friends and family told me it was a good spot. My husband and I decided to have date night at this location and it turned out to be awful. For starters the service, our server came over with water and then abandoned us until we flagged him down to take our order. We were not offered menus, though they do have the option to scan on the table. Once we ordered, again our server was MIA and someone else brought us the food. We had to slightly shout at this person to bring us napkins and utensils, since they sprinted away quickly after dropping off our food The last draw was when other patrons arrived and received a different experience. Not only did others get offered menus but napkins and utensils were brought right away with the water? Our server gave us the check but was lost again so we went to the counter to pay (where we found our server hanging out). The food was pretty good overall that’s why I give this place 2 stars, but my ramen was lukewarm when it arrived at my table and the hibiscus lemonade my server made himself, just tasted like lemonade the...
