Had a great time celebrating our friends anniversary at Ketch on Shelter Island. We sat outside next to the marina, and even though it was overcast, it was a great view. First of all our server, Ana K, was incredible. She didn’t just help us with the menu, she asked what types of flavors we liked, told us we wouldn’t like certain items and suggested something different. She was very attentive, checking on us and her other tables often, no one in our area was ever looking for the waitress. If you can, request Ana. They have a good beer selection, including a bunch of their own brews. My wife wanted a spicy margarita, but didn’t want the spicy pineapple margarita they had on the menu. Our server had the bartender, make a classic margarita with jalapeños and it was delicious. We ordered a couple appetizers, including the buffalo cauliflower, brussels sprouts and wonton tacos. One of our friends isn’t fond of raw fish, but she loved the tacos. I was really surprised by how good they are and there was a particular texture that was different, come to find out, they put a slice of jicama and cucumber underneath the fish, the jicama really sets this apart from other people’s tacos. The brussels sprouts have good chunks of linguica, spicy aioli and smoked almonds, it was so delicious, we ordered another plate of them. The buffalo cauliflower with one of my favorites as well. For dinner, I got the shrimp andouille linguine, my wife got the crispy pork loin and my friend got the mahi. We all agreed that the crispy pork loin was the best, it has a buttermilk batter on it that makes it so juicy and flavorful. The mahi was also very good, my only criticism of the dinner would’ve been my linguine. It was good, but it didn’t knock my socks off. Had the right proportions of shrimp, and Dewey and pasta, but the andouille wasn’t very spicy. I think a spicier sausage would have made it better. For dessert we went with the coconut cream Brûlée and bread, pudding with ice cream. They were both very good. Can’t wait to come back with the kids so we can sample different items, hopefully we can...

Great views and nice atmosphere. However, felt there was a bit of discrimination. My father is a disabled veteran. Me and my sister flew into town that morning to visit our dad and decided to have a nice brunch near the USS MIDWAY.
Upon arrival, an obvious server/host saw us waiting. She proceeded to walk around other tables and for about 5 minutes of us waiting she approached and said “it’s is open seating choose a place.” No welcome, no greeting, and the tables she was servicing were not even requesting any service, so she did have time and attention for us. She had menus in hand and walked away and put those menus back by the registers without handing any to us.
After about 6-7 minutes without a menu, another server, Cameron came to greet us. He asked if we had any menus, and my dad proceeded to reply we didn’t receive anything. Cameron apologized was polite and caring and understood the situation. He continually balanced tables around us and checked in on us. This is the type of service that should be handled a fine establishment like this. I observed the other server the whole time and she was jumping here and there without manners. I was holding off on mentioning her name, but I believe it was Sammy? She’s a blonde-haired and walked around the restaurant with sunglasses on hanging off her shirt as if she owned the place. And if she does?
This is tragic- I don’t recommend anyone coming to this place if you expect consistent service. My biggest compliment is to Cameron, while my biggest disappointment is Sammy. If she can see this, you work in a restaurant in downtown San Diego, you are an ambassador to the city and an ambassador to this restaurant. Please take better care of your patrons. San Diego is also a military town, we have a lot of disabled veterans, please respect the people who have fought for us to live in convenience while others sacrificed their...
Read moreWe made a reservation for a family bday gathering and appreciated the thoughtful pre-dining service. Our outdoor seating location was beautiful with incredible views & comfortable seating.
Ketch has fantastic house brews & a great assortment of beverages. We selected Ketch due to ease of parking, gorgeous location, kids menu & gluten free options. We didn’t “ketch” happy hour, but it’s epic!
Service was swift and courteous; however, a few items were overlooked. Side of potatoes ordered but not delivered. Kids meals were missing whipped cream & a side of fruit & it took a 9 year old to point it out. Oopsie!
Food was decent, but there were mixed reviews.
Skirt steak was well done instead of medium rare. They replaced the meal but still disappointing The birthday “boy” ordered a short rib sandwich, and it was reportedly mushy, luke warm & lacking flavor. Fries were a mix of perfectly cooked & underdone A poke bowl made “gluten free” means no farro (not sub rice, etc) & no sauce (they don’t offer tamari or any kind of gluten free sauce & no sriracha) breakfast burrito was good but needed salt, which seemed to be a regular theme Brussels sprouts are BOMB!!! Surf & turf dip was pretty yummy too Fruit side was delicious fresh melon & pineapple Delicious 🤤 unexpected free dessert for the bday “boy” with a candle
Enjoy this spot tremendously & hope they can pick I the slack where they’re sliding. Wishing our experience was a 5 instead of a 3.5/4, but family & ambiance made...
