I’ve been to Lucy in downtown San Diego a few times now, and overall, it’s been hit or miss. The only thing they consistently get right are the rolled tacos — those are actually pretty good.
But everything else I’ve tried has been disappointing. Most recently, I had a breakfast burrito, and the fries inside were soggy, greasy, and just not cooked well at all. I get that there’s egg in a breakfast burrito, but the fries still shouldn’t be that mushy and limp. It really dragged down the whole meal.

Read moreLucy’s Taco Shop is located downtown on C Street a couple of blocks away from the San Diego Superior Court so it’s a perfect spot if you have jury duty. It’s a colorfully decorated business with a typical Mexican food menu. A lot of people take their food to go. The counter service was friendly and quick. I ordered a Carne Asada Quesadilla which, while not the best I’ve had in San Diego, was pretty good. It’s a solid choice if you are in the area for any reason. There isn’t any parking available so it seems like most of the customers are working downtown or walking over from...
Read moreI've been here a couple of times. The carne asada tacos cost $5.99, are huge, made with double corn tortilla, guacamole and pico de gallo, didn't find them tasty, also tried it with the available red and green salsas, but it didn't help. The milanesa torta was good, and tasted better with the salsas. The horchata water was good/ok. The cashier/server is nice and adequate. Place does not look appealing either inside or out. Great location, for the convenience of people at Civic Center, for which I'll continue to check it out every once in a while and try...
