Mendocino Farms — Restaurant in San Diego

The service is awful. I previously had a terrible experience a year or so back. Ordered food online, got a message that it would be ready for pick up at 12:45. It was past 1p.. I had to make my way to the chaotic counter only to be told that my order wasn’t there. My credit card was charged. No apologies, no comment on what they could do to fix the situation. I left hungry, money out my pocket, and late for a meeting. Fast forward to today, I decided to give it another chance. The crowd seemed less being a holiday week. I ordered just a pre-packaged side salad. My online order indicated it would ready at 12. (I wondered why a pre-packaged salad would take 20 minutes). In any case, I showed up at 12. My lunch was not on the online order shelf. Waited 5-6 minutes. No sign of it. Meanwhile folks who seem to walk up to the counter and check on status seem to be prioritized. I finally decide the do the same. It took me 5 minutes to get someone’s attention. My order had not even been printed. She finally printed it, reached for a box inside the refrigerator and gave me my lunch. I wonder how long I would have waited if I had not asked about my order. No more chances. Will...

I love Mendocino Farms so I won’t give 1 star, but I don’t know what’s going on at the downtown location lately. Seems like every order is messed up the last few times. This latest time they gave me the wrong dressing for the taco salad (I think it was honey mustard or something) and since I wasn’t able to get back to the store in 3 mins before they closed the only option was to refund me. And when I asked if I could come in the following day to get the correct dressing I was told I would have to talk to a manager. I don’t understand how this was a difficult request. And this whole time I just kept being put on hold and literally asked “so what exactly do you want?” by the girl on the phone, despite having already stated what I would like. It was a simple mistake and not that huge of a deal but the unprofessional way it was handled was really frustrating and time consuming and left a very bad taste in my mouth (also because I no longer had something to eat for dinner lol). I get it, it’s hard to find good help but walking away like I’m being unreasonable for wanting what I ordered is not a good...

This place looked awesome, so the wife, kid and myself decided to try it out before the Padres game. I truly hate writing bad reviews, but I think this one is warranted. We waited under the sign that said Order Here for 15 minutes before someone told us we had to order from the Pick Up Food side of the restaurant. Keep in mind there were only 4 other small parties dinning. I'm definitely aware of online and phone orders, however we stood for another 10 minutes before someone decided to take our order of two grilled cheese, cup of tomato soup and a turkey sandwich. We then waited another 25 minutes for our food. Our grilled cheese sandwiches were cold, the tomato soup tasted like a Cambells can of tomato soup and the turkey sandwich was mediocre at best. So all in all, what was meant to be a quick bite to eat before the game took us over an hour, the food was sub par, and the customer service was dreadful. Yes the environment was very nice, modern and clean but we will not be dinning there...
