Panera Bread — Restaurant in San Diego

Today is their opening day!! I ordered online for drive thru pick up due to the rain. My order said it would be ready within 10 minutes, so I headed right on over. Unfortunately a lot of the streets were flooded, but sports area was clear so I was still able to get my food. I had 2 cars ahead of me, and the moved through fairly quickly. I pulled up and let the staff know I had a pickup and they told me to pull forward. I got the window, got my food extremely fast, and even got a free cup for being one of the first 100 people within this store!

I got home, and broke into my food. I ordered a fresh loaf of Sourdough, thinly sliced and its DELICIOUS! i also ordered the pick 2 - and got two halves of sandwiches. I got the steak and horseradish melt and the turkey bravo. The melt wasn't my favorite since the cheese was too overwhelming, but this is just my personal opinion. It was beautifully made by the staff though! The turkey bravo was wonderful. I love how fresh all of the ingredients were and again, freshly made and it looked like the picture online, so great job panera team!

Lastly, i got a free cookie since I just signed up on the panera website. I chose the kitchen sink cookie and its perfectly crunchy, chewy, and soft!

We placed a large catering order with Panera weeks in advance for a team hosting a large conference. While the online ordering process was smooth, the communication and service were extremely disappointing.

The delivery was scheduled for 7:00 – 7:15 AM, with instructions to call or text upon arrival and, if needed, leave the order in the lobby. Instead, the driver left the food at the lobby without notifying us and simply told the lobby staff that someone would pick it up. No delivery confirmation was sent.

At 7:30 AM, we called the bakery, and they initially told us the driver was "on the way" and would arrive in 10-15 minutes. When we called back at 7:45 AM, no one answered—even after multiple attempts from different phones. When we finally reached someone, they put us on hold and then hung up.

We eventually found the food sitting in the lobby at 8:30 AM. No apologies, no explanation—just a complete lack of professionalism. When we spoke with the manager and other store supervisors, they refused to issue a refund, stating, "we did our job." Not only did they fail to take responsibility, but they also promised a follow-up call, which never happened.

Poor communication, terrible leadership, and zero accountability. A simple apology would have gone a long way, but instead, we were met with dismissiveness. Avoid ordering from...

I haven’t been to Panera in a few years. There have defenitly been times where the food quality took a major dip but it feels to have taken up uptick again. The sandwiches are still great and the Mac and cheese was pretty tasty. Only complaint was they don’t have soup in the morning and honestly it isn’t Panera without broccoli cheddar.

Also I missed the charged lemonades, but I can begrudgingly understand why they no longer have. Them …..bring them back please….i will...
