I truly enjoyed this restaurant so much! My waitress was an absolute delight and gave me recommendations on local places to go while I am visiting the city. She was very on top of our needs the whole night. I believe her name was Kacey (I’m so sorry I don’t remember fully) but she was lovely. The food was amazing and so much fun! The battle of the bruschetta was such a fun idea and I liked the interactive element it brought to the meal. I ordered the board of bruschettas, I got the traditional tomato, basil, mozzarella, while one of the more basic options I got I throughly enjoyed this classic, I got the apple, fig, and Brie, this one was definitely the most sweet of the ones I ordered and I wasn’t a huge fan. The fig jam was just too much for me and over powered all the other elements. I ordered the mushroom and mascarpone, I really liked this one, the balance of flavors was amazing and I highly suggest this option for any mushroom fans who dine here. The last one which was my favorite was the prosciutto, fig, and mascarpone. This bruschetta was the best thing I had at this establishment. It was absolutely amazing and I was tempted to order a whole second one. Along with the board I ordered the skewers. These were also so good and served with a tradition tzatziki yogurt sauce. I really liked the steak skewer but the chicken one was just ok. I think it was more the combo of the steak and sauce was better than that of the chicken and sauce. The chicken itself was perfectly grilled and super juicy. I shared both these items with one other person and we did find ourselves a little hungry afterwards so I would definitely suggest ordering three things if you are dinning with more than two people. We got the ricotta donuts and hazelnut crunch bar for dessert. I absolutely loved the donuts and the caramel sauce was some of the best sauce we have ever had. The hazelnut bar however I wasn’t as big of a fun of. It was really heavy and the peanut butter cream that came with it wasn’t very strong in flavor. The chocolate drowned out the other flavors for me. We ordered a prickly pear lemonade which was admittedly very sweet but also amazing and a prickly pear margarita. We didn’t really like the margarita and found it to be very expensive for being such a simple cocktail. However over all my experience at this restaurant was top tier and if I come back to town I will be...
Read more5/5 for flavor and aesthetic but taking off points for some portion size and service. Came here for brunch and really like the aesthetic of the place. Menu was also quite creative and had a lot of good options on there.
I think overall the food was quite flavorful as well but not all items were value for money.
I got the bruschetta board cuz it was what we actually went for.
Husband and some of our friends in love with the artichoke spread version. It was quite creamy and loaded and had a slightly tangy taste to it but I think I would have preferred it a lot more with a little bit of chilli flakes on top.
My favorite was the sweet Spicy Pepper Jam with Goat Cheese. I'm a major fan of sweet and spicy flavors and this one really hit the spot. Husband also got the prosciutto + fig + mascarpone as well as the bruschetta + arugula + bacon+ tomato flavor. Those are also quite yummy.
Friends tried the vegetarian ones and the corn and cotija cheese seasonal special seemed to be a hit.
The table ordered some sweet potato wedges and everyone seem to enjoy them.
I guess the biggest let down here was the salad. I ordered the mixed green salad with some grilled chicken on it and the portion size was extremely small! They were very little greens in that bowl and the amount of chicken was also maybe 3 oz? I feel like whenever I've added on grilled chicken to a salad at a restaurant it's usually been like 4.5oz or at least the standard 4 oz of chicken.
We went to the server and asked for some extra plain Greens on the side and took them actually quite a while to get that out. Another issue with the service overall is that they took quite a long time to come to our table. After we were seated and got our waters they took a while time to come take our order. Throughout our time there as well no one came to check up on us much either. Definitely want to know that the servers were very kind and sweet though :) Same...
Read moreCan’t say more about this place, I’d give it 5 stars across the board but this place is very busy on a Sunday and doesn’t seem to staff enough people some days (certainly could’ve been someone sick)
I have decided to take Sundays that this jem. It’s a great place to sit outside with beautiful breezes coming off the bay - which you can’t see but can hear. Which is awesome.
This place is good for a wine snob as well as lunch with the ladies.
There is a special that they have on I believe Tuesdays. It’s bottle of mid priced but great wine and a board of their bruschetta. They come in maybe 8 different types with my favors being the fig and ham, bacon and arugula and the Elote one (highly recommend this one), and I save a wild card for each week.
They also have a wine club - it’s worth it. I looked at the quality of wines and how much they were at a discount. It looked to me like they were about 22% lower than lost price.
The staff is really good - if busy, so table touches can take a bit - understandably.
Typically I will also order the meatballs, which are the best I have ever tasted of any place I have ever gone.
Hopefully you are able to get a table, it’s a great mid afternoon date night and really relaxes you for your week ahead.
Take an Uber, it’s a whole bottle of wine and SDPD is thick in the area.
Price: you get what you pay for, it’s not inexpensive but about what you’d think a wine restaurant to cost, I believe I paid about 80 dollars for 2 in the photo. This included a fairly generous tips so all in all, about inline with...
