We stopped by really late when almost everything else was closed. According to the website, the restaurant was still open, but when we arrived, only the drive-through was available. We tried to go inside, but the interior looked filthy — napkins were scattered all over the floor, and it clearly hadn’t been cleaned.

At the drive-through, I asked the man taking my order what kind of fish was in the burrito, as I have dietary restrictions and need to avoid certain types of fish. He said he didn’t know. I asked him again — is it cod? swai? — and explained it was important for health reasons, and asked him to check with someone else working. He refused and instead started laughing at me. I was trying to be respectful and clear, and was met with total disregard.

This is more than bad service — it’s a serious safety issue. People with food allergies or sensitivities depend on clear answers from restaurant staff, and I was shocked by the lack of concern.

To make matters worse, I specifically asked for the fish to be grilled, and it came fried — something I cannot eat due to an intolerance. What I could eat was also gross and low quality. The chips tasted like something from the bargain aisle at a grocery store.

Even if it’s late and options are limited, I strongly recommend you don’t go here. The food is bad, the service is disrespectful, and there’s a complete lack of care for customer health and safety. You’re better off going home and making...

Let me preface this by saying we only chose this place due to the supposed existence of a drive thru. We pull up to the menu, decide what we want, wait a few minutes for a “hello” Or “one moment please”…crickets. After like 5 minutes we ask “hello?” (No response) No signage saying the drive thru was closed or anything, so we decide we have no choice but to go inside. I immediately begin questioning my choice to do so. 3/5 tables were unusable due to being absolutely filthy and covered in someone’s trash. Trash on the floor and unclean surfaces are EVERYWHERE. I look into my cashiers glazed over eyes with low expectations but somehow higher than the product I receive. I ask for a bacon egg and cheese burrito and this is confirmed when he hands off my “bacon breakfast burrito”. To my dismay there is no bacon more cheese to be found in my burrito and my desired ingredients seem to have been replaced with a sea of refried beans. So much so that it was difficult to even try to attempt to eat if the flavor and textural nightmare of my beans with the slightest hint of cheese burrito that I didn’t order. I will never come here again and I wish I could...

We pulled up to the drive through and sat there long enough to wonder if it was even open. Then we noticed a worker sitting outside playing on his phone. We asked him if they were open and he said yes. He jumped up to go inside. About a minute later someone else was asking us what we wanted. We ordered our food, paid for it and we were on our way. The food was super bland. We got rolled tacos. It had a weird texture to it. I already wasn't feeling well so I didn't try anything else. My boyfriend ordered a carnitas burrito that made him sick. So needless to say we are never going back. This was the second bad experience at this location and the first time I didn't want to leave a review because we figured, bland food isn't the end of the world. But guys, this is San Diego. We need higher standards. There's Don Bravo down the street who's been serving up great food...

This is the 2nd location that I have tried! Went approx an hour before closing. Small location. Local. Just as wonderful as the prior location. The Super Nachos are amazing! A whole carry out container completely full! Perfectly cooked, thinly cut strips of steak. Good old fashioned, real nachos. Steak. Beans. Cheese. Guacamole. Sour cream. Pico. All on top of a bed of chips. We also ordered the tamale combo. Very good as well. I recommend #Rigobertos. It was relative easy to overlook the tables that needed wiping down and the floor that gathered all that fell or was knocked off the tables, simply because there was a steady stream of drive-thru orders. The picture was taken in the dark, but still captures the enormity of the carryout container completely full of nachos.

Been coming here for years, and have always loved it. However, tonight I had an experience that was downright insulting. I ordered the supreme quesadilla, and what I got was ONE folded over tortilla cut into two pieces with barely anything in it. Look at the picture. How would you feel about paying $15 for that? They used to give you two tortillas filled with meat and cheese when you ordered a quesadilla- not one that’s half empty. Yes, inflation is a thing, BUT a week ago, I placed two orders and we received one and a half tortillas each that were FULL of meat, cheese, guac, and sour cream. They were awesome! But I’m not going back after tonight, just on principle. Which is a shame, because I really did love this place.

When in La Jolla, skip the other taco shops because Rigobertos is the real deal. Fresh shredded lettuce, taco shells that aren't greasy, and delicious chicken and beef. The rice and beans have a little tangy zip I've not tasted at lesser taco stands. Prices are reasonable, there's plenty of parking, and they're not lying about being the best Mexican food in town. Can't decide what to order? The chicken roll tacos are da bomb!
