Boichik Bagels FiDi Battery — Restaurant in San Francisco

BY FAR the best bagels in California and I would argue, west of the Delaware river. Relocated after 15 years I in NYC and I can’t believe I found this. If you are an East-coaster, this will become a staple for you. Don’t expect all of the variety of an east coast bagel place (this is a Gem, don’t throw it out cause it doesn’t have tofu veggie cream cheese), but it has a selection enough to satisfy a n East coast bagel craving. They even have egg bagels and whitefish. Egg sells out quick, so that requires an early trip on the weekends. They have egg everything too, for the wild ones. They had a sundried tomato cream cheese and switched it out for honey tahini. Disappointed because I think an herb CC is a staple, but I can’t knock them if I still get a fresh sesame bagel that reminds me of my childhood. Full fixings for a bagel sandwich - lox, onions,...

Finally opened 8/23/24 next to the former Specialty's in the FiDi and across from Noah's bagels! No indoor seating or bathroom but a few tables outside. Bagel options were already selling out by 8:30a. They use Kite Hill for their vegan spread (not my favorite but glad there's an option for those who are allergic or lactose intolerant). Adding lox is pretty expensive (+$9.50). Bagel had a nice chew and I enjoyed the crispy garlic pieces on my toasted bagel.

I also ordered an iced Choco Malt Coffee which is Ghirardelli chocolate sauce with Oakland's Mother Tongue Coffee. I appreciated that they had an oat milk option, however, it had a bit of acidic and sour taste so I wasn't a fan. So glad they've opened...

It's just a bagel with cream cheese but apparently it's too complicated for some people to figure out. I saw the worker this morning around 9:45am starring at the orders, unable to figure out which bagel was for which order. Then of course they hand my bagel to another customer WHO OPENS IT, they have to return it, and instead of giving me a fresh bagel, the worker re-wraps the same bagel that another customer had opened up and hands it to me. I don't know if they don't understand basic food safety or if they're stupid, or both. Do not go here. I was excited to try it but the bagel was meh, and of course it was cold by the time it got to me. Just go next...
