Caffe Sport is the 99th San Francisco Pizza Establishment I tried. I would say for the price it is decent. I don't fully regret giving them a chance as I know they are making Sicilian style Italian Food and are one of the places in North Beach who has remained and that the employees here are so Italian that when I walked by here to check the place out the host was so Italian that he only really could speak Italian. That convinced me that one day I should give them a chance as I am attempting to try as many San Francisco Pizza Establishments as possible and am coming up on the end of my term serving as Pizza Analyst for San Francisco, my very hometown, the 415, which emphasis put on such endeavor starting May 2022.

This Pizza has very good cheese and it is clearly truly italian. Is it truly great? No. It's not necessarily average. Let me tell you something... can I? All the OG spots in North Beach have a certain little thing about them that makes each of them worth trying if you're trying them all because you will learn something new about Pizza from each of them. What I learned from Caffe Sport is that good quality cheese can still fall off any Pizza when the style of Pizza is the have a flimsy undercarriage besides the edges where the crust puffs up largely creating the "Chips and Salsa" effect where you have to essentially reassemble the Pizza yourself as you go. See my videos for real time footage of this happening.

This Pizza does reside in Flop City from that perspective but it still is good in it's own way. I feel like if you want to try the best only don't even worry about this place. Not that you would considering the name of it, how it looks on the outside and the fact it's so close to legendary Pizza Establishments that I will not name so as to not bury one of the likely least popular, for a reason, Pizza Establishments (to be fair) in North Beach. Let's face it.

I will say this though, paying $22.13 through Caviar for a Margherita and a side salad which had good quality ingredients - I am not mad and I don't regret giving them a chance but come on guys. I tried 100 places in San Francisco alone in less than a year. I have been to New York and Italy. And Chicago for that matter. So aside from a visit to Greenwich, CT I know what I am talking about.

Caffe Sport - 6.8 One Bite Pizza Review style score.

What?

Addendum:

Caffe Sport replied to my review stating

"We appreciate your thoughts, Tiaga. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us and let us know how we can improve. It's customers like you that help us be better every day. "

This. This is what I like to read. This is what taking accountability as a Pizza establishment looks like. Other Pizza Establishments I have absolutely trashed and they refuse to retaliate. Usually places only respond if I say good things about them the whole time. I appreciate Caffe Sport for being willing to learn as they clearly do respect the craft of Pizza and the Men and Women of Consuming Pizza like me who diagnose themselves as experts. Respect. In fact, taking responsibility like that makes me pump them up from 4 to 5 stars....

I am writing to share a disappointing experience at Cafe Sport on August 30, 2025. Our visit began with no greeting or acknowledgment from staff, and the service remained inconsistent and unfriendly throughout the meal. Specifically:

We were not greeted or attended to in a timely and consistent manner from the moment we entered. When we needed basic items (a slice of lemon, silverware, napkins), requests were not acknowledged promptly or were ignored. Water or other actions at the table were mishandled (for example, there was a moment where water was thrown at the table) without any apology or support. Attempts to place an order or obtain service were met with unresponsiveness, and staff did not appear consistently available. Silverware was brought from the bar area in a way that raised concerns about cleanliness and sanitation.

The bill for our visit was $75, and we left a 25% tip based on that amount. What I want in any visit to Cafe Sport is simple: consistently friendly, attentive service, and responsiveness from the staff throughout the entire dining experience. This expectation was not met during our visit, and it detracted from what should have been an enjoyable experience at an...

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants, but it has changed. The food is not as good and thrown together. My meal was over $100 and we didn't drink alcohol or have desert. Not a problem to spend once in a while if the food is great.

I live in the city and there are many Italian restaurants to choice from in N. Beach. The atmosphere is inviting, but the food???

I ordered pasta with Pesto. The pesto was similar to a liquid green slim thrown on the pasta which was swimming in it. The pasta actually turned green, and it wasn't a green wheat.

The other dish was risotto, which was good, but again, so much cream sauce, I couldn't taste the meal...I enjoy cream sauce, but I don't want to drink it. It tasted similar to rice pudding.

The $17 caesar salad had so much dressing on it, there was little salad taste. No ground pepper offered.

We asked for cheese for the pasta and we were brought out a small dish of already grated or perhaps store bought parmesan cheese. Most restaurants offer fresh pepper for your salad and grate your cheese in front of you.

I am sorry to say, but I can not recommend this place any longer as there are many...

Nice, cozy place in North Beach (Little Italy) had the pasta with shrimp, calamari, and scallops in a pink sauce, was tasty.
