Watch out! This place is a tourist trap. We’re looking for Sotto Mare, the original restaurant famous for its cioppino dish, and mistook this restaurant with it. This restaurant shares the same building and was setup in a way that’s indiscernible with the original. Unsurprisingly, many other tourists made the same mistake like we did during our time there. I’m pretty sure the owner did it intentionally. As shown in the photo, the food looks pathetic and tasteless, especially the pasta, and the seafood insides the cioppino bowl seemed to be not fresh either. The service is also terrible with ridiculously long wait time and the waiter couldn’t even turn on the outdoor heater so we’re suffering the entire evening. Upon checking, they gave us a wrong bill and put in a service surcharge without permission. The worst thing is that we later on found out that they fraudulently put in the tip that I had to dispute with the bank to get it back. This kind of scammy business left such a bad mark on the cityscape.

Everything here was a disappointment. To start off, I understand that holidays are crazy busy and stressful. Mistakes can happen. That does not excuse abysmal quality service and food, especially when 0 effort is put in to fix the situation.

Service 1/5 Food 2/5

Our table was forgotten. A waitress took our order and never came back again. We had to keep flagging down a waiter to get any sort of attention. Maybe we were supposed to be passed off to another waiter but obviously there was noIt took 30 minutes to get the stale bread that other tables received quickly. Nobody would come check on us even though waiters passed by looking confused about our table. After 1 hour instead of the several "just 5 more minutes" we received our food. No apologies, just a "it's not my fault." I've had better, fresher tasting frozen food. The cioppino was essentially unseasoned tomato broth with less than fresh seafood and I never got the bread that should come with it. The crab chowder was too salty and not even hot. The pasta was ok, but the seasoning in the sauce was again lacking. The salmon in one pasta again was not fresh and on the fishy side. The sea urchin in another pasta was just plain bad and had to be spit out. We couldn't even get a waiter to talk to about the quality because that might take another hour.

Mistakes and failures in hand offs happen, but the least that could be done is the waiter apologize and own up to the mistakes and try to make things right. We had to do their job for them and track down our food. There wasn't any apologies or attempts to make things right, only deflection and "not my fault."

Vaccine cards were not checked, and only a portion of the staff was wearing their masks.

There was nothing redeeming here. Just time and money wasted, sub par food, and servers who will roll their...

Worst experience I had at a restaurant. Started off great, got seated outside instantly, drinks and menu were served to us and we placed our order. Ordered a Lobster Roll, Caesar Salad, 6 Clams, and Linuine Alle Vongole. Waited 20+ minutes for our order with nothing served to us while the seats around us have been getting their orders & eating. Asked our server, Alex, twice about our order with him giving the response “coming.” Then after the second time of us asking for our order (30 minutes after our order has been placed) the Clams and the Salad came in. A little while later our Linuine Alle Vongole came. The Clams was very good & the Linuine Alle Vongole was good as well. Now, we finished our 3 meals and waiting on our lobster roll (roughly 50 minutes after placing our order.) We decided to check on where our lobster roll was. The server, Alex, said we only ordered 3 items and I said we ordered the Lobster Roll first and then proceeds to ask if we want to add the Lobster Roll, in which I said no since it has been over an hour since we got to the place. Then he leaves with no apologies no sincerity as if he wasn’t the one that made the mistake. Terrible customer service. Would never come back to this restaurant if that’s how they treat all...

I had an incredibly unpleasant experience at this restaurant. The service was terrible, particularly the attitude of the waiter. After we finished our meal, we waited a long time for the bill, but the waiter never came. When he was serving another table, we politely asked him for the check. He responded very rudely, saying, "Can't you see I'm busy? Wait until I'm done!"

Eventually, he brought us the bill. While clearing our table, he told us we should have put the oyster shells back into the metal tray they came in and demanded that we do it ourselves. He made us, the customers, use our hands to put the oyster shells into the tray one by one. Only after we cleaned the table to his satisfaction did he take the dishes away.

I have never seen a waiter demand that customers clean their own table. Moreover, it was just the two of us dining, no children or pets, and we did not make a mess.

Additionally, I noticed that he was very polite and friendly to the white customers at the neighboring table, but extremely rude to us, who are Asian. This blatant racial discrimination made our dining experience even worse. I highly recommend that people of color avoid this...
