I’m writing to express my profound disappointment and frustration regarding the treatment I received during my recent visit to your establishment. As a customer, I expect to be treated with basic respect and dignity, but my experience was far from acceptable.
I had simply stopped in to grab a coffee and leave—I had no intention of sitting in the restaurant. Despite this, I encountered unnecessary delays, and the behavior of the one staff member working there was shockingly rude and invasive. This individual began questioning me about my service animal and prying into the nature of my disability. This line of questioning was completely uncalled for, especially as I was not asking for anything beyond a simple coffee order.
The interaction felt hostile, humiliating, and deeply uncomfortable. It was clear I was being judged, and I ultimately felt so unwelcome that I decided to leave without completing my order. This type of behavior is unacceptable in any setting, and it is particularly disturbing to experience it in a place like the Marina.
As you are surely aware, under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), it is illegal to discriminate against individuals with disabilities or interrogate them about their conditions. The actions of your staff member not only violated my privacy but also my basic rights...
Read moreAs a regular customer of Coffee Bodega's FiDi location on California St., I've been eagerly awaiting the opening of their new shop in Cow Hollow / the Marina. Today was my first visit, and though my expectations were sky high, I'm happy to report that they were surpassed.
This new shop is the same Coffee Bodega we've all come to know and love: absurdly high quality drinks, terrific service, great ambience and classic 80s songs providing the soundtrack to really complete the whole experience.
Today, I had the La Canela (Honey Cinnamon Latte) which was stellar, as always. I also highly recommend the pour-over options (my go-to is the La Pastora). At this point, I've tried most of the menu and really, you can't go wrong here.
Do like I did and snag one of their comfortable seats by the window, sip your drink and just space out for a bit while all the shoppers on Union St. pass by.
Looking forward to my next visit here, which I'm sure will...
Read moreI will pile on to the other reviewers - I was questioned about my very well behaved trained service dog (which took him awhile to even notice was with me). I expect the question to confirm her service but my response to the service she performs was met with further questioning and then “never heard that one before, sounds like a mental issue” to which I informed him that disabilities can be psychiatric.
I stood my ground and actually finished ordering - although his goal was obviously for me to retract my order and leave.
I see his response to others has been that impersonating a service animal is illegal - to which I’ll educate him - getting a disability diagnosis and training a dog to perform a related task is actually easy - not sure why he’d assume someone would need to impersonate something like that.
He has the right to refuse service to someone whose service dog is actually misbehaving, but that...
