I mean... what do you expect from a "Chinese" restaurant in FiDi? It's basically a Panda Express... so my standards were definitely lowered, give the fact that the menu was very Americanized as it is catered to those who work in FiDi. That's perfectly fine with me, but this isn't really "Chinese" food.
Anyways, got take out from here the other night. Called to order and the lady was very nice and confirmed everything with me twice just to make sure that she had the right order, which I did appreciate. Went there 15 minutes later, the food was almost all cooked. It was all freshly made since I was basically watching them prepare it in the kitchen. Seeing how much food I ordered and how I struggled with holding everything with my hands, they kindly opened the door for me and wished me a good night. Definitely sweetened my night after an extremely painful day at work. These ladies are so sweet!
But on to the food.. it's average Americanized Chinese food, given that it's probably more gourmet than others. Since I was ordering for the team, we got the usual Orange Chicken (3 orders), Kung Pao Chicken (1 order), Szechuan Beef (1 order), and Mixed Veggies (2 orders). My favorite out of those dishes was probably the Orange Chicken, though it could've used more sauce. The mixed veggies were nice as they were nicely sauteed with garlic, The portions are pretty generous and prices reasonable. For all that plus 3 large boxes of rice, it was roughly $80, and fed 6 people, with lots of leftovers! I'm pretty sure they have some lunch deals too, so I'll maybe come back if I'm craving "Chinese" food since my options are...
Read moreStopped in because it was on the way back to the office and I didn't want to make the side trip to Chinatown. I ordered BBQ pork wonton ho fun. The five wontons didn't have the bouncy chew and it was mostly pork - no shrimp. The broth was lifeless and the noodles was on the light side - not much. The pork was plentiful - surprisingly - but a bit dry. For the veggie in the soup, spinach. It took longer to come out of the kitchen than I expected. I have a light appetite these days and the dish was filling but not satisfying. When I had a bigger appetite, this would not have been enough. With tax, it was over $18 - OUCH.
The vibe of the place is plain. The food in the warmers looked tasty and their menu had a decent amount of options from the kitchen. If you're in a hurry, just select items from the warmers. The staff was friendly. There was a self serve water spigot.
If this place was out in the mid-west, I might go back to try other items, but with so much competition in the area for the same cuisine, I probably won't go back based...
Read moreUpdate Jan 2025: Good to see it much busier than when I first tried it out. Food are still good and enjoy a good quick lunch before back to conference. Don't limit yourself to their lunch box offers.
They also offer a nice selection of normal make to order items and they are better than the lunch box. We tried the house fried rice and SciChaun fried tofu with Eggplant. Both were real good, great Wok fragrant with infused favors from ingredients. The Eggplant was just right texture and not overcooked.
Great fast and easy lunch just a short walk away from Moscone center. Nice little mom and pop restaurant hidden in a building coroner not far from the convention center. An easy quick reach for tasty filling lunch for conferences goer, visitor to Yerba Buena area. Next to the Museum of the African Diaspora. Hot and spicy beef shank noodles is pretty good, also the bitter melons fry beef in black bean source ( right predation makes the bitter melons not bitter but retain...
