As a reciprocal sailing club visitor I had to procure an emailed letter of good standing which was not on Adobe or letterhead and was problematic, but I was given a pass and let in. The building itself is massive, containing an entry hall adorned with model ships and paintings. Most impressive are the enormous windows allowing a full view of the bay that very nearly abuts the club. The winds were 25-35 and there appeared to be a regatta. Mondays and Tuesdays are quiet days with a closed restaurant and light bar so there were only a handful of people. Definitely a sophisticated urban feel. All the sailors wore foulies.    Read moreThe St. Francis Yacht Club has been my go-to place to take my family to watch the Blue Angels where you get a full (and pretty close) view of the aircraft that you can feel the ground shaking as they fly over, not to mention the loud roars of their engines and the spectacular surrounding bayâs scenery. It is usually well attended by members and their family and guests. The clubâs service and their food are excellent and they provide activities for the whole family to enjoy, with setup of childrenâs food and treats, such as hot dogs and cotton candies. I continue to be impressed by the quality of the venue; food and beverages; the St. Francis sailing tradition; and the diversity and excellence of staff and members. Surprisingly congenial atmosphere, not the sort of stereotypical yacht club one might fear. Lots of interesting people, a very friendly and comfortable place.
