On July 12th, I experienced the most terrifying and dangerous allergic reaction of my life at Taco Cantina, due entirely to your staff’s negligence. I clearly and explicitly informed both the waiter and the chef that I am severely allergic to shellfish and that my food must be prepared on a grill with zero shellfish contamination. This is not a preference, this is a life-or-death medical requirement.
Despite my clear instructions, my food was prepared in a fryer where shellfish and other seafood items are cooked. Thirty minutes later, while walking up Stockton Street, I began struggling to breathe. Emergency medical services had to respond immediately, administering an epinephrine injection to save my life.
Food allergies are not a minor inconvenience they are a serious, potentially fatal medical condition. This incident could have ended with my death. The lack of care and disregard for proper allergy protocol shown by your staff is unacceptable and inexcusable. Your team’s failure to take my warning seriously and to follow basic cross-contamination prevention procedures put my life at extreme risk.
I expect a formal acknowledgement of this incident, an immediate review of your food-handling protocols, and assurance that no other customer will ever be put in this...
Read moreI don't normally seek out Mexican food especially somewhere as touristy as Pier 39, but then I saw actual plant-based options at more affordable pricing, I was all set for the ride.
Located on the second floor, Taco Cantina offers a full menu of tacos and side dishes that can cater to everyone's dietary needs. I was attracted to their cactus and impossible meat tacos, but ended up just ordering some guac to share with the table. The guac was a good portion size and there were plenty of chips provided to serve as your tool to get the avo mash inside your mouth.
Food aside - the views of the San Francisco Bay while dining outside was breathtaking. It felt like an escape from the insane hustle and bustle of Pier 39 downstairs so it was well worth the lunch visit.
If I ever wind up in the area again, definitely going to consider ordering a margarita and just relaxing upstairs even if...
Read moreWhere to start....? Customer service is above average, not WOW, but above average. The food....oh the food lol One sees the menu and sees that a taco is $10. Ok....my next obvious question is," Are the tacos big?" "Yeah, it's big," the cashier said. "IT" is big...as in only one taco. Check out the pic in any of the reviews. So yes, $10 for one taco....and it's just a regular taco, nothing special and NOT big. My lobster puffy taco was pretty sad, too. It had a small piece of lobster (I assume it was lobster). Anyway, I'm Hispanic with Mexican roots and trust me - this was NOT Mexican food. It's obviously targeted for tourists that don't know true Mexican food. Oh well -...
