Ohm Thai Massage — Local services in San Francisco

I've been meaning to leave Alex a super stellar review for his little massage studio that is inconspicuously tucked away in this small shopping plaza in the heart of the Castro (you have no idea how many times I missed the entrance after getting out of my Uber!).

I've been seeing Alex for everything from deep tissue massages to more traditional Thai stretching and massage work. Alex actually helped me resolve my lower back pain with the help of some PT exercises as well as his point-specific massage over the affected area earlier this year.

In terms of COVID, safety, Alex always wears a mask and requires his clients to as well. He will offer hand sanitizer upon entering and will always wash and clean before and after your session. Since he is generally the only masseuse there, I've yet to run into another client or person in the studio at the same time as my appointment since their reopening earlier this year.

In general, Alex is a very observant and caring masseuse, he remembers all the injuries I've sustained and would ask about that as well as my workout habits to see what areas he needs to focus on more. His cheery attitude is always a nice pick-me-up after a particularly grueling week or day, so thank you for that!

Don't be surprised if you become so relaxed that you doze off, I've definitely fallen asleep during our longer 90-120 minute sessions. I've gone to many masseuses across many cities and all over the Bay Area, and Alex is the most consistent masseuse there is. Best of all, he uses scent-free products with me (forgot if I had told him about my skin allergies), but you will leave the studio feeling not only more relaxed but ALSO not sticky or dry (thank goodness, my biggest pet peeve are oils you cannot get out of your skin that also do not absorb, just gross).

10/10 would recommend him to friends in the Bay after we reopen again, he is FANTASTIC, and everyone should come and support Alex and his wonderful local studio! Definitely...

Alex made me feel so welcomed and relaxed upon walking in for my appointment. He was so kind, giving treats to my kids as i was dropped off for my momma day at the spa. I got a lovely cup of tea to settle in and sat and enjoyed the beautiful decor. A beautiful buddha, a lovely elephant and a gorgeous red and gold painting by the entrance. I find that decor can set the mood and i was already relaxing with the sound of falling water from a nearby fountain and soft music on the sound system. I was encouraged to take my time getting ready for the massage and when i was ready Alex came in to start massage. He was very receptive to changing pressure when needed and was great at finding spots that where tight. I loved the way he moved my body in each direction to release tension and the pressure was Great and I'd be curious to see what more pressure would be like. It can be hard to tell sometimes because in some areas I want more pressure and some less but I'd like to work more on getting rid of chronic pain. As soon as I arrived at Ohm Thai Massage I felt comfortable and welcome. The location is within a small mall including a few other shops, and I initially walked past the shop but Alex walked out to show me where to go- I appreciate that he was waiting for me and looking to make sure I knew how to get to the location.

Before the massage started, Alex asked me about any injuries or spots of concern. He listened to what I had to say and focused on those areas over the course of the massage. I wound up doing a pressure point/ deep tissue massage, and Alex incorporated some Thai massage techniques as well, which was a wonderful touch.

I felt very relaxed after the massage, and felt like I had plenty of time to unwind and gather my things before leaving. Alex is an incredible massage therapist, and I can't recommend him highly enough. Definitely visit Ohm Thai Massage if you're in the area- you won't be disappointed!
