So we went for brunch to Cafe Marquesa, the food was good and the service was on par even though it was packed. We ordered three dishes, the sweet and spicy chicken tacos, the shakshuka and the eggs royal (Smoked Salmon Benedict), along with our usual irish coffees. Of the three the best was the Eggs Royal by far, the hollandaise was luscious and the plate was well balanced. And even though the potatoes were a bit over cooked as was the side of sausage that we ordered the dish was wonderful. The sweet and spicy tacos were also very nice, the mixture of texture between the avaocado, the plantillla and the chicken made for a satisfying bite, but it lacked spice in the sauce so it was mostly sweet chilli in flavor. The shakshuka was well presented it arrived hot and stayed hot until the end of the meal. But it severely lacked flavor, the tomato base was more paste than sauce and lacked both moisture and seasoning. In my humble opinion it would have benefitted greatly from some olive oil, salt and a bit of water to smooth it out. As for the coffee, well you can never go wrong with a taste of Glen in the morning over PR...
Read moreThe food looked good, but was flavorless. I got the hangover burger and fries, and the well done egg was the only thing that had ANY amount of flavor, but not much. The fries were perfectly crispy, but I was better off eating the potato they came from. Everything relied way too heavily on the ketchup for flavor. The temperature of the food was good, though I requested medium and got well, it was still good. My passion fruit juice, and my husband's soursop juice was seemingly fresh, delicious, and in a coffee cup that almost completely "melted" before it made it's way 5 minutes back up the block. Definitely need plastic cups for the juices, because it was soaked from the ice. I was so scared when I drank it that it wouldn't last the meal. The words stamped on it were hardly visible🤦🏾♀️ My husband had the black bean burger and sweet plantains. The burger was also flavorless, but the plantains were delicious. Unfortunately, I had them after a little ketchup was put on them, but their flavor still showed through, I definitely should've gotten...
Read moreFirst up, the menu is in Spanish with no additional description. But fear not if you don't know the language, our server was the nicest person. She was ready to explain the whole menu to us, so kind! We ordered the brunch pizza. It has scallions, scrambled egg whites, bacon and roasted potatoes. Since we don't eat bacon she gave us options to replace it and we chose chicken. Such a rare occasion when you can substitute a topping at no extra charge! It was so very tasty, the chicken even had a special rub on it. We also had a hazelnut latte and a vanilla latte - delish, especially the vanilla one. As a bakery item, we had the mallorca. It came with a side of butter. The bread itself was not too sweet, just a little dry for my liking.
Parking is available on the street. Some are metered spots. If you want to visit the restroom, ask for the key (attached to a spoon, cute!) at the counter.
Overall, a great...
