I really can't recommend this place. It has to be a scam. I was drawn in because it says it's family owned and fair traded chocolate. It seemed a little cramped and messy, but I thought, well, it's the end of the day on a Saturday, maybe it's been busy and they are just cleaning up. No prices were listed, but I figured it would be somewhat expensive chocolate. No problem. I'm not getting anything huge. I bought a bag of dark chocolate covered pineapple and two truffles and my bill was fifty five dollars!!! After trying the chocolate, and after trying other local chocolate makers in town, I really can't understand that price point. The chocolate tastes somehow stale? Like. Idk it's fine? But it isn't "WOW!" The thing is, even if the chocolates were that expensive, just list your prices. You have multiple reviews complaining of the same thing, so why don't you do it? I probably would have still bought a little something and you wouldn't have gotten a bad review! But the business model as it stands feels like it's made to entrap rich tourists, which. I am not rich, I am a seasonal worker who works at the local Opera and cannot currently afford a house, but budgets my paychecks so I can have a treat here and there on my one day off. It feels like a privilege to work here and spend my hard earned money locally, because I could not currently afford a vacation here. I was so shocked at the price point, and I should have said no thank you before handing my card over, but I felt terrible saying "no" and didn't know what else to do in that last pivotal moment. It was so disappointing. Everyone, go to Kakawa instead, or Chocolate Maven. Go to the Dim Sum place across the way. Go literally anywhere else, unless you see these people have listed their prices and cleaned...

Looking for somewhere to take your young children? I'd definitely skip this option.

Received the actual worst customer service here tonight. I stopped in with my young daughter and the girl working was clearly upset about that; glaring at us and scowling when we came in around 5:00. She was sitting, browsing some kind of device and obviously didn’t want to be bothered. The whole aura was super uncomfortable, but it was cold and I had promised my child a hot beverage for our evening walk. I asked the barista if she could make my little girl's hot chocolate less hot (like basically all coffee shops are happy to do for young children - most even ask what temp) and she snapped that she couldn't because it was premixed. I asked again, because even with that cheap diner-style premixed hot chocolate, it should be very easy to add some milk to cool it down. She dismissed the request again with an ā€œI'll see" while rolling her eyes and immediately just slammed the cup down under the machine. I opted not to get a drink myself because of her attitude, and that turned out to be a great choice.

The small (and as mentioned in several other reviews, super overpriced) drink was done in 30 seconds; kind of ironic to be be on the receiving end of such hostility for something that takes so little effort. To top it off, the drink was so bad that my daughter (a kid who loves all chocolate) couldn't drink it after it had finally cooled down.

We had to sit outside of the shop for 20 minutes to wait for the temp to come down instead of walking around with it as intended for fear that it would burn her. The shop was open the whole time so it's not as if we walked in while they...

I hate to do this but I have to warn others. I am not sure what has happened to this place but the chocolate has gone down hill significantly.

I used to come in once a month with my fiance and buy some truffles. They had these peanut butter truffles that tasted like Reeses but better! Tried a chocolate bar and was not impressed. Have not tried their chocolate covered nuts.

They closed down for a while over the winter. When they opened back up my fiance and I were super excited. Went in to only find out that they were focusing only on nuts and bars. Decided to go in and check it out about a month after my first since they re-opened and they started to have truffles again. Saw they had the peanut butter truffles again and had to have them. Whoa, its like they had no idea what they were doing this time. Absolutely awful!! 3 of them were so soft I wouldnt eat them. I cant even begin to explain how terrible and awful this chocolate is.

I wanted to support a local establishment with friendly local owners. But this place is so bad I just cant spend another...

I get that it must be nice to rip off rich tourists on the plaza so why not? But I'm a local and they still charged me $11.90 for the piece of chocolate covered almonds in the picture (quarter on the counter next to it for size reference). We weighed it at home and it was 2.3 ounces. That translates to $82.78/pound! They have no prices posted on the chocolates in the case and now I know why. They clearly decide on a case by case how much they will steal from you. Too bad because the two chocolate dipped cookies I bought for $4.50 each were lovely and my boyfriend loved them. I work three blocks away and would have been back to get more for him if I hadn't been blatantly ripped off for no reason. You can make an honest living on the plaza without stealing. Two stars instead of one only because the chocolate was decent but you can get better elsewhere without worrying about being scammed.

The only thing ā€œlegitimateā€ about this place is that it is legitimately a scam. I’m a self proclaimed chocolate connoisseur so I’m up for spending $$ on good quality chocolate. I went into this store and the first thing I noticed was that many (if not most) of their chocolate had already ā€˜bloomed’ and appeared old and stale. At any rate, not wanting to be rude, I decided to take two small slices of dipped orange, two small slices of dipped papaya, and two small pieces of dipped mango. The bill was $27. Not even one whole pound of chocolate. I should’ve said no right then and there but of course in the moment, I gave in. And of course the chocolate tasted like the Walmart baking bars you get for $1. Likely not even real chocolate (more like chocolate flavored bark). This is most definitely a setup for God knows what.

Horrible experience all the way around. I went in looking for a simple post lunch snack and picked out a single chocolate peanut cluster. When the girl told me it would be $8.50, I couldn't help but exclaim, "that's insane" but wanting to support local business, and not being able to find any other chocolate snacks in town, I bought it. Sadly, the chocolate tasted like wax, and the peanuts were unsalted. It satisfied none of my sweets desires. To add insult to injury, the girl who sold me the cluster was as bland as the chocolate. Advice: I later learned that the Five and Dime sells chocolate bars. Any Hershey product would put this place's confections to shame! Just wish I'd read all the bad reviews before throwing away my money.
