A quaint little restaurant in the plaza area of Santa Fe. Compact seating with hard bench like booths. Small tables with chairs to make more room. Walls are beautifully decorated. Unisex bathroom, usually a line forms so be prepared. The food is decently good, our party of three ordered a variety of dishes. So, the food portions varied, such as the order of nachos which was just a handful of chips on a little plate, very small portion for a lunch dish. Now the blue corn tortilla enchiladas (3) plate was evenly portioned and not overly crowded, looked very appetizing. I ordered the Santa Fe plate with x-mas style chile (red and green). The plate came with a tamale, enchilada, taco, beans, Spanish rice and posole. All squished on to a similar sized plate as the nachos were served on. The posole, instead should have been put into a separate bowl so the food wouldn't get all saturated with juice and become soggy. The taco was left off because one, no room and secondly, it was forgotten all together. Each plate comes with a sopapilla except for the nachos. Gluten free options are available but with the possibilities of obvious cross contamination should be expected but they will try and prepare it safely. I will return to try...

In the heart of Santa Fe, where the earth breathes warm and red, There lies a humble hearth — Tia Sophia’s, where souls are fed. Not merely with the breaking of bread, but with the breaking of spirit, Where time slows its hurried dance, and the sacred flavors inherit.

Oh, Tia Sophia’s, your kitchen is a chapel, Where the whispers of the ancient winds mingle with the aroma of chile and corn. You do not serve mere dishes — you offer communion, A ritual of warmth, of love stirred slow and deep, A gift wrapped in tortilla, kissed by fire’s embrace.

How grateful are we, wanderers and seekers alike, To find refuge in your embrace, a sanctuary of taste and grace. For in your simple feast, the complexity of life unfolds, The sweetness of honey, the fire of spice, the comfort of home.

You remind us that food is the symbol of love, A sacred bond between the earth and our hungry hearts. So may your ovens burn ever bright, your tables ever full, And may we return, again and again, to taste the grace you pour.

In this land of mesas and skies painted with adobe light, You are a blessing — a story of gratitude written...

Went to go have lunch with my fiance and had a bad experience. First they didn't have a very big selection on lunch only a few things. So I just order toast and my Fiance order a sweet roll. His came out and it was a cream cheese Danish not a sweet roll they need to distinguish the difference between the two .my Fiance doesn't like cream cheese. Second I ordered toast only choice was white or wheat. It was dry and was like Walmart bread the butter they brought me was cold .How in the heck can you spread cold butter on your toast seriously my toast fall apart. This isn't a good place to eat .Highway robber we paid 13.00 dollars for toast an a cream cheese Danish. I could've went to McDonald's and eat better there for less. Don't get me started on the waitress, she was rude if they don't want to be around people and have people skills and good communication then they should work with people. When you provide customers services to people the company should make sure the waitress have good people skills. Was very disappointed. Will tell all my family and friends not to ever go...

This restaurant was discussed during our Santa Fe tour. It was highly recommended by our guide so we decided to have our lunch there. It certainly lives up to its hype. It is not a glitzy eatery but a basic restaurant that provides delicious food. I had the red/green chili enchiladas which were pretty spicy for me but worth the sting. I am an average spice-level person so those really into it may not feel it is that much but the flavors go beyond mere heat. Those who prefer mild fare beware. Served alongside was sopapilla and honey. Oh! Wow! Enough said. Service was friendly and helpful. The place is popular and opens early and closes by 2pm. So factor that in when you make plans. Their hours don’t make it worth a liquor license so the do not serve beer. Certainly not any deal breaker but keep it in mind. Tia Sophia’s is definitely a local legend and is worth finding out why.

The food at Tia's is some of the best in Santa Fe. My favorite part of Tia's is the chile, the taste, and the amount. Most places in Santa Fe will give you a few spoonfuls of chile and look at you sideways when you ask for more. Tia's will give you a spoon with some dishes to scoop up all that yummy red and green. You can also get fried bologna, a northern NM staple. The service is curt but efficient. Seating is tight and cramped, but i suppose that's part of the charm. After all, you are eating right next door to where Billy the Kid was jailed (look for the nearby plaque). Get here early. These days you have to get there by 9am on a weekend if you don't want to wait. On Saturday, I walked out after breakfast and counted 25 tourist types waiting in line by 10 am. Pretty soon, this place will be out of reach to the locals much like The Shed, LA Choza, and The Pantry.

Tia Sophia’s doesn’t just serve breakfast—they hand you the state of New Mexico on a plate. The smothered Christmas burrito comes drowned in red and green chile like it just survived a baptism of fire and sun. Eggs, potatoes, bacon—basic building blocks—but once that chile hits, it’s not breakfast anymore, it’s religion. The red is deep and earthy, the green sharp and alive, and together they’re a punch and a kiss in the same bite. You don’t pick one here—you take both, because life’s too short to choose sides. By the time you’re scraping the last bits from the plate, you’re warm, full, and convinced you just ate something that couldn’t exist anywhere else.
