BEWARE OF BILL STACKING SERVERS!!!! We've been a couple of times with OK service and OK food. The last time was the best; great service and food was better ... but then tonight happened. We ordered our usual Texas Margarita's during happy hour and the fajita rice with the same request for carnitas and shrimp instead of chicken and steak (which we've ordered before with no upcharge and no prblem.) Our waitress happily took our order and was very nice but not very attentive. Now, I'm not stupid; I understand when you make changes there could be extra costs but I'm always told about them. And since we had ordered the same thing previously without the extra cost we assumed it would be the same. When we received the bill we had not been given the happy hour discount because, according to her, "it's the 16oz size, happy hour is much smaller." I didn't order the 16oz size. We thought we were getting happy hour prices so we each ordered two. AND then another surprise! We were up charged another $5.50 to "Add carnitas" to our entree. We didn't "add" we "substituted." That has never happened before and she neglected to bring it to our attention or else we would have ordered differently. And since when is pork more expensive than steak? My husband joked that we should have at least gotten the chewy steak and chicken "just to feed the dogs" since we were being charged for it anyway. (lol?) All in all it was an extra $12 dollars we had to spend and tip on because we weren't aware of the extra charges. The whole reason why we went was for the happy hour and to share an inexpensive meal together. We won't be going back but if you decide to go make sure you know what you're being charged for what you order... And don't ever ask for a little more sour cream because when you expect a tiny bit they'll bring you a big bowl and charge you $2.99.. and you'll use a half a spoonful. We were duped! ONE $10 entree, a kids sprite, and four Texas margaritas ($6 instead of the happy hour 4.99) at a supposedly "inexpensive" restaurant costed us nearly $50 (I'm including tip in that - $43+7=50.)...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Cancun Mexican Restaurant, and overall, it was a delightful experience that left me satisfied. The combination of friendly staff, great food, and good service made for an enjoyable evening. However, it is worth mentioning that the restaurant's furniture showed signs of wear, and the decor seemed a bit outdated.
Let me begin by commending the staff at for their warm and welcoming demeanor. From the moment I entered, I was greeted with genuine smiles and prompt service. The staff members were attentive and provided helpful suggestions regarding the menu. Their friendliness and eagerness to ensure a pleasant dining experience were evident throughout the meal.
The food was undoubtedly a highlight. Each dish I ordered was bursting with authentic flavors and expertly prepared. From the zesty salsas to the perfectly seasoned main courses. The menu offered a wide variety of traditional Mexican dishes, and I appreciated the authenticity of the ingredients and flavors.
In terms of service, the staff was attentive and prompt in taking and delivering orders. They ensured that our needs were met and promptly addressed any inquiries or requests. It was evident that they were dedicated to providing a positive dining experience.
However, one aspect that could be improved upon is the restaurant's furniture and decor. The furniture showed signs of wear and tear, with torn upholstery in some areas. The outdated decor gave the restaurant a slightly dated ambiance. While this did not significantly impact the quality of the food or service, updating the furniture and refreshing the decor would undoubtedly enhance the overall dining experience.
Despite the minor shortcomings in terms of furniture and decor, my overall experience at Cancun Mexican Restaurant was enjoyable. The friendly staff, delicious food, and attentive service outweighed any concerns regarding the aesthetics of the restaurant. I would gladly return for the exceptional flavors and...
Read moreI don't understand how this place has higher than two stars. This is most definitely the worst Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. I walked in not believing that anyone could mess up Tex-mex but I was quickly proven wrong.
It was almost noon when we walked in and there were only a few tables that had customers sitting at them (red flag). We sat down and were quickly served some salsa, which was actually pretty good. I ordered chili rellenos and my fiancé ordered a smothered burrito. My chili rellenos came out sitting in a pool of water/grease. I took one bite and immediately lost my appetite- very bland and the batter tasted like fried eggs. The refried beans were obviously made from powder, but they and the rice were also very bland. Fiancé ate a quarter of his burrito and couldn't continue- the meat had a strange flavor/texture, and the dish also lacked flavor. There was no point in voicing our discontent to the waitress- we didn't believe it would be possible for our issues to be resolved. So, to not be rude, we asked for boxes and took our leftovers (nearly our entire uneaten meals) to go. (We immediately tossed them in the dumpster when we got home... I didn't want the kitchen smelling like them.) As we were paying, someone at a table nearby had a sizzling entree (fajita plate?) being served to them. It smelled like burning hair- I don't know if or how they managed to stick that stuff in their mouths. Awful!! If this is how the food normally is, then this place can't possibly stay in business...
