I could not believe this location. I’ve been to many Baymonts around Florida thinking we’ve picked a grand hotel for a good cost of about $350 for 2 nights. THIS WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE I’VE EVERY HAD IN A INN/HOTEL. Where should I begin. It started off because we booked a suite for my wife and I with 2 kids. We needed a king size bed. They gave us 2 full sizes. That wasn’t going to work because we needed to put a child in the bed with us. They were too young to be by themselves. Before we went to the room, there was no working entrances for the stairway. I thought the inn was indoor based off what it seemed on the reviews. We were wrong. The fire hose housing, wires all over the place in the stair way. Lights outside on that end was very dim. We get in the room my wife finds a dim just sitting on the middle of the floor. Those with young kids know how dangerous that would be for the child. We look in the room the air conditioning vents were broken. I went back down to the front desk and explain the room assigned to us wasn’t what we asked for. She tell me they were fullly book but there one room that may be available. “You can go to the room and see if it anyone is in there.” I told her absolutely not! I’m not going to another persons room. She then tries to explain that she doesn’t think there is no one in there. I walked over there anyway and it was empty. We find the room is much cleaner but even still had many things we found that wasn’t done. We found party screamers on door and wall and spills on couch and we think blood on a light fixture. Wife found many little piece of hair in bathroom. I can go on and on. The kicker was the door deadbolt would not lock! The place is a no smoking hotel but all around there was smoking around the premises. We call down to the front desk about our concerns and she said she was the only one there; the manager will be in the next day. So I expected a call from her. She did not call so when we got breakfast I spoke to her. She said the worker did not leave any detail messages but that there was a complaint made and I was going to talk with her. The manager made lots of promises but of course did not follow through. We were told that we wouldn’t need to leave and the problem will be taken care of. She had house keeping manager to come by by 11ish, the repair man to come fix door and the general supervisor would come as well. Only the repairman came by and told us we would need to the room because the issue would take half the day to fix. No manager of the came by either. She never made it in at the time. Also the general supervisor did not speak to us. I mentioned this to the lady manager and told me that they had another room. By that time I had it. So she told me that it may be best to checkout because wlth y can’t really accommodate us. She originally gave us 1 day free because of the issues. Then she says they would just charge us 89 dollars. If you read through this all the way. I’m sure I am missing some details but the main thing is we will NOT go here again. I’m also going to corporate about this because it makes baymont look really bad. If there is no resolution I will have to post again. Hope you choose wisely if you plan to go stay at...
Read moreThis was the absolute worst place my husband and I have ever stayed at. Everything about this hotel is poor on the lowest level. Our whole stay left us disgusted and totally angry. The property conditions and facilities are awful. Things look old and left to deteriorate. In the room, the shower is atrocious and maddening how bad it is. The shower head is calcium encrusted and awful, the bathtub is nasty looking with rust and stains, and the cherry on top is the horrible curtain rod that falls off the wall and can’t hold the curtain in place. You actually wonder if you are getting dirtier by trying to use that shower. There was black mold in bathroom light. The faucet leaked perpetually. The hair dryer was disgusting. The wall power outlets are so old that they can’t even hold a plug. This hotel is decrepit and depressing. The staff is excruciatingly bad. We received a random morning phone call that woke us up from the front desk lady asking if we had called when we did not. Also when we realized that our shower was so frustratingly terrible to use, I asked if we could change to another room. Someone at the front desk said a similar room wouldn’t be available until the next day, but there were suites available for a premium. They could have offered the suite, but they did not. I asked for a discount on the current room we were in for that night and was told that they would need to check with the manager and that they could not guarantee it. There was no indication that they would follow through and take care of our situation. Very frustrating. The next day I spoke with a man at the front desk. I told him the issue with our room. The man had to call and ask someone by cell phone what rooms were available. I found it very weird they did not have that information available to them. We were able to switch to a new room and the man said yes we could have a discount on the room from before. The new room was not much better. It smelled musty and bad when we walked in and the shower was not much better than the first. Upon check out, I spoke with a lady at the front desk to ask for our discount that was granted to us. She had no idea about it and said she would need to speak with the manager. It was maddening that we couldn’t get it taken care of before leaving. There was no way of knowing anyone’s name as no one had name tags and the plaque on the wall that said “Manager on Duty” was blacked out where the name was supposed to be. The lady at the front desk would not give us her first name or the manager’s name or contact. She demanded that we move to one side of the desk in order for her to pass us a sticky note with a general hotel email address and phone number. She was atrocious. We did end up receiving a discount some time after leaving, but nothing made up for how bad...

The best thing about Baymont Inns in Midtown Savannah is the staff. The hotel is, generally, in disrepair, requiring lots of attention. I suspect other Baymont Inn locations are much better operated, but this location has a poor owner/operator.
THE ROOM The door to the room stuck and was difficult to open; we had to body slam it to get it to open. Three's no way an elderly person or child could even get in the room.
On entering the room, an offensive, musty smell filled the air (I almost asked for a room change and now wish I would have). It went away, for the most part, in time, but we smelled it from time to time.....I think it was the A/C unit which also buzzed occasionally. The clock's time was blinking and the time couldn't be set, so, we unplugged the nuisance! But not to worry....more noise coming from the construction people working in the room beneath us. We were one of the first people checking in for the day and have no idea why anyone would have placed a guest above this.
The room had no exhaust fan in the bathroom and no safe for your valuables (to me, both non-negotiable "must haves" in every hotel room). They did mention a safe was available at the front desk, but who wants to leave their room to go lock up their valuables with people they don't even know? Then to the pillows.....one had an uncomfortable lump of something the size of a shoe inside ! The refrigerator temperature wasn't set properly, so it wasn't cooling. Once set, it did reach a proper temperature but the freezer tray area iced up requiring defrosting.
THE BATHROOM - The lift handle on the toilet flush was broken making the toilet run.....one of the problems is the lock nut is completely missing and it's a lift handle for a RIGHT SIDE flush but being used on a left flush toilet. The toilet seat didn't fit the toilet base The drain plug in the tub also was broken and the shower water never got warm enough for a HOT shower. Nice looking, newer floor tiile. Chipped up door to the bath.
I stayed at a Quality Inn in Michigan recently and was really impressed, but chose this Baymont Inn because it was rated better than the Quality Inns in the area. In general, our room and the hotel felt patched up with a nice coat of paint on the outside but plenty to be repaired and desired on the inside. Stay somewhere else.
If I was Baymont management, I would make an inspection of this location because it's giving the whole chain...
